Alas!
"Jerry's Barber Shop" has closed forever. The owner (Ray, not Jerry) retired and closed shop. I now have to go to the west side of town to find a "Barber" shop rather than a "Stylist" or "Unisex" salon.
Poo. Poo I tells ya!
A new nickname! Hooray!
I've always wanted a nickname (as opposed to an epithet).
Since I've been wearing my various hats unabashedly, I have had more positive than negative comments, which I find rather heartening. Couple of weeks ago, as I was getting off the Mount Pleasant bus uptown, a...
Must be very low humidity in here... my glass is empty AGAIN!
Well, call it a geographical bias, but I really enjoy a couple of my local brews, "Clancy's Amber Ale" and "Moosehead Pale Ale", brewed right here in Saint John, NB.
When I'm in "the states" I tend to ask for Sam Adams, Pabst Blue...
Vey is mir!
Oy! Just today I was reminded that the padlock I use on my locker at work... I purchased when I joined the army in... 1973!
The key is so worn that... wait
(excuse me a second... gotta breathe deeply... phew. I must sit down for a minute...)

That's it! (Possibly...)
Well, I'll be goll-swizzled. Maybe THAT's what I need. Seeing the second photo of Chevy in the hat makes me think that I need that high, straight crown! Looks great on him... but then, in that film, he's not a middle-aged fat man... as am I. ;) I just received...
Well, it's a fairly new hat, and I don't really want to replace the sweatband, just find out if I can remedy the situation.
OK, I'll give that a try. Thanks very much!

Yes, that is the case. One of the wrinkles causes a noticeble vertical "dent" on my forehead.
The hat is 'snug' but not overly tight; by which I mean it fits, but I don't have to screw it on... :D I did buy the had new and at first it was just a little on the...
Not exactly dumb comments, but...
Several weeks ago I was in my local grocerateriemporium (supermarket), wearing my spiffy "Bogart" fedora. I walked past a couple of very young teenage boys- heck, maybe even pre-teens- and I heard one of them say (not to me, but to his friend) "Cool hat! Looks...
Indeed.
I do that, too. I'm not sure if I do it because I like to do it, or just because I sometimes feel that if I speak correctly that I will alienate the person to whom I'm speaking. It does happen- at least around here.
Say, listen pal, as far as I'm concerned there's absolutely...
Whaaaaaaa!!!!!????
You can get magazine subscriptions on eBay?
I had NO idea! Guess which website I'll be visiting when I sign off here. :cheers1:
I recall that in the mid 1980s I subscribed to National Geographic for several years. I really enjoyed it, but I ended my...
And search I did.
Hello "feltfan"
I did- as a matter of fact- do a search before I posted my message. Unfortunately, I just didn't have the time to look at all 500 THREADS and all the messages therein.
I'll keep looking, shall I?

Hi Fedorians:
Well, I've been wearing my swell Bogart fur-felt fedora for some months now, virtually daily. It's a fine little hat and people long ago stopped looking at me as if I were a bit 'different'
However, now that it's broken in, I've noticed that with the unavoidable...
A bit off subject, but...
Great signature. The Dude does, indeed, abide. "The Big Lebowski" is one of my favorite Coen brothers movies, and Sam Sheppard is a good actor. Wish I had his voice.

EDIT: ELLIOTT! :eusa_doh: Sam ELLIOTT! I knew that. :whistling
Yeah...
"Needs must" as they say in the UK.
Hiho everyone:
I too resisted getting a cell phone until about 4 years ago. My brother was in a horrific car crash and spent some time in intensive care. In the first couple of days I had to be in almost constant communication with the hospital, the...
Semantics. They were (supposedly) Englishmen living in America. Besides, it was George III.
I think the rather bloody revolution- which occurred even before the "British Empire" and therefore long before the inception of the "Commonwealth" -might have something to do with it...
