Schott 618hh. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

I had to go up for the shoulder / chest width, and to be able to throw on a sweater, etc under it. The waist is still too big on it for my preference, but that's what the belt (...and potentially a good leatherworker/tailor...) is for....

Schott 618hh. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Yes - that was my exact experience as well. I could have pulled off a 44 in the 613SH (...which is still one size up from "normal" in other garments...) but had to go to the 46 in the 618HH.....

Schott 618hh. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Here are some pix from my 618HH journey, posted in another thread here on the lounge, so you can see how this is fitting/breaking in on my body. Perhaps similar to your experience ? Mine was purchased brand from the Schott NYC Flagship Store in downtown Manhattan in November 2023 >...

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

Thanks @JasonY ! Truly Appreciate the compliment and the contribution !

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

Well, just like Occam's Razor, the simplest answer is usually the correct one - because there are winter days here in the Northeast, where I may need to wear it under the jacket ! PS: I appreciate the added embellishments & clarity to my earlier talking points !

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

As @Tom71 pointed out, the modern cut of the Schott 613 & 618 has been altered since the 50's and is now "boxier" to put it politely. IMHO, The Holy Grail of all Double-Rider Cross Zips is the 1950's Durable (...but that's a topic for a couple other threads around here...). That had what is...

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

YES IT IS ! I saw it today at Schott's once-a-year Factory Sale (three years after you started this thread @Aloysius) The family and long-time staff like Jerri were once again amazingly pleasant, gracious and accommodating - especially considering the high volume of people who turned out. You...

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

#Appreciate You @Aloysius keeping us ALL up to date with the ever-sliding scale of Schott sizes! I did "bite the bullet" and take advantage of Schott's once-in-a-year Black Friday deals to get a 618HH at the end of 2023. I even ordered your "first love" - the 613SH due to your excellent...

    Elvis Bike Jacket

This same pic just came up randomly for me this morning (...I wasn't even aware of this, even though my mom was a HUGE Elvis Fan...); and of course, it made me wonder "Who Made that Jacket?" I know someone else said this was a "standard 618" - but IDK.... those sleeve zips look AWFULLY LONG for...

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

Personally, I really dislike the underarm footballs, which were a clever invention/addition in the 80's. They're not really part of the original/classic pattern, and in jackets that are no longer meant for serious riding (Schott's are more a fashion piece now, than protective gear) the need to...

Is this a Schott from 1983 or earlier ? Bo Brady /Peter Reckell

Oh - trust me, I appreciate and am fully on-board with the humor of this when I started this little thread ! The show came on the air the same year I was born, and my maternal grandmother was the "O.G. Days Fan" in my family, who then passed the tradition/addiction onto my mom, with my watching...

Is this a Schott from 1983 or earlier ? Bo Brady /Peter Reckell

Well, those pix/screen grabs were from 1983, and if it was the actor (Peter Reckell) own jacket that he brought to the set - he probably had it for a while before getting the role. And who knows ? He may have picked it up used himself ! Thanks Again for all your AMAZING help - with very little...

Is this a Schott from 1983 or earlier ? Bo Brady /Peter Reckell

WOW !!! DAYUM ! Thank You SO Much for solving the mystery ! While you were doing your detective work, I was actually downloading a bunch of those same images for you - so you didn't have to do it - lol. What type of leather do you think that was - based on how it's folding, draping, etc ...

Is this a Schott from 1983 or earlier ? Bo Brady /Peter Reckell

Let's try the link again https://www.facebook.com/DaysCapsbyKatLucas/photos_albums Trust me - the thought that there were multiple jackets definitely crossed my mind - lol. I do know this thing had a red lining that looked like flannel, and to the best of my limited knowledge, Schott didn't...
