Hold the feather over steam, like from a kettle. It's a fly tying trick that works well.

    Looking for hat information?

It looks like quite the "fixer upper."

Maybe it's an issue with translation or idiom. Other sites describe the Icaro as being fur felt. Some describe it as rabbit fur felt.

    Buying a hat in Italy

+1. And baseball hats were mostly seen on tourists. I was there a few weeks ago and traveled with an old Champ Featherweight. It served me well.

True, though at least since 1939 and maybe prior, wool content was required on labels. It still doesn't help with beaver content, but at least we can be certain that there is no wool in a fur felt hat unless specified.

FWIW, in the US, labeling laws require the amount of wool to be disclosed on the label, and fur fiber is defined as, "the hair or fur fiber — or mixtures thereof — of any animals other than the sheep, lamb, Angora goat, Cashmere goat, camel, alpaca, llama and vicuna." That means that anything...

I ordered the standard as described https://www.etsy.com/transaction/1434478443 2.25" brim, 4 3/4 crown, 1.5 band. I asked for a long oval and mentioned my size is 57.5 (ordered a 58). Mr. Pappa delivered on all counts.

I like the 2 inch wide soft leather sweat and the gauze like cotton liner that keeps things very breathable. It fit my...

Sorry for the delay replying: I've been away for a couple weeks. I don't have the hat yet, but have a package at the post office that they tried to deliver last Friday. Hopefully it's the hat. Roger

Good to know because when I ordered my 58, I included in the comments about long oval and that my actual size is 57.5. Hopefully, he'll size it accordingly, though a half size is not a big deal, and the sweat usually shrinks to fit after a few wearings.

Big thanks to Perry and Brent for bringing this maker to our attention. It prompted me to ask if they can size hats in long oval. Within minutes, Mr. Pappa relied,"We would enjoy creating this hat for you or any of our styles in the long oval. All you will need to do is enter your customization...

    Deleting a post???

Most people just add a post to the thread indicating that the hat is SOLD It's also helpful to keep the post so that others can research what kind of market there may be for a similar hat
