Pearl pins...

Even pearl pins are a thing of the past .
But if you ever want a pin Sheik , you know where we are . I've got plenty for you !!
Art put a pearl pin in it for me, and even though I am biased, I think it gives a classic edge to the hat. It looks really...
Because so many of us are reading about or discussing Art Fawcett's decision to give up renovation work, it is the perfect opportunity for me to brag about the fantastic charcoal gray Fedora that Art just made for me (I will try to figure out how to post a picture of me wearing the hat). It has...
Me encanta el sombrero
I love this hat, Mauricio, and it looks really great on you. I want one just like it. So, next time I'm in Buenos Aires, maybe you can introduce me to Sala. You say the hat was somewhat expensive. Do you mind telling us how much it was? Thanks and see you soon, David
Or you can order from Australia
There is a good site offering the Akubra hats at www.everythingaustralian.com and, from what I can tell, the prices are quite reasonable.
I guess it all depends...
If the straw hat is a Panama hat with a backwoven edge, I would assume it's pretty difficult to trim. However, if it is a sewn edge, it should be easier, though you might have to bind the edge with ribbon afterwards. Anyway, your best bet is to get an opinion from...
Looks perfect Aaron
I have the Como as well, also purchased by the way from Bencraft. You have the right size, and the hat fits your face very well.
Good luck, and nice to have you here.

A Fellow Brooklynite
Hi Analogist,
Like you, I'm a Brooklynite (Brighton Beach, to be exact) and I dread putting away my straws (I have two fine-woven Cuencas I bought in Ecuador, one of which is with Art right now for reblocking and refinishing, and another that Borsalino stuck its label on...
Obviously a Man of Good Taste!
:eusa_clap The Chambergo and the Tango are my favorites, but all of them are great. Do you wear one every day? I'll be glad to inherit any of them when you tire of them ;) (what is your hat size? mine is 61 cm or 7-5/8 American).
I am not familiar with...
Here's a question for the historians (and forgive me if this has been answered in the past but I'm too lazy to do research): which is the more classic (i.e., older) bash for a Fedora -- the C Crown or the Teardrop (or, as I scientifically call it, the Borsalino)? Where did each of them originate?
A $25 hat in 1946????
That was more than the price of a suit, from what my grandfather used to tell me. He said a good hat in the late 40s and early 50s was less than $5. What hat could have sold for as high as $25 back then?
I think you have misunderstood, Mauricio
Panamabob is a big boy and is perfectly capable of defending himself against what I think are some unfair inferences that Mauricio has drawn from the pictures of Pile that have been posted. However, I do want to say a few things:
1) The best (i.e...
Bienvenido al grupo Mauricio!
Hola Mauricio,
Hi guys,
I just returned from Bolivia, toting my brand new gray Borsalino Como II which I purchased here in Brooklyn right before I left. I wore the hat every day, sometimes during the day, always at night. As it is winter in La Paz, there was no rain, so I never had to worry about getting...
Nice is an understatement
How many wpsi's is the one you're modeling here? It's great.
I absolutely love Panamas. Because I spend a lot of time in high ultraviolet destinations (Bolivia, Middle East), they are more or less necessary for me with my pale German skin...but, hell, I just think...
