The silver belly is much more of a light, light grey-tan. The fawn is a brown. Very different.

I got a Campdraft in Taupe Fawn from HatsDirect. Great hat, no complaints. Fellow around here, Kevin (Atomic Glee is his handle), got a Campdraft in Silverbelly last year or so. This is the hat. Fine looking color. Good luck with whatever you choose. P.S. Huzzah for 100 posts!

How about something simple and vaguely martial, like "Co. H" or "NSW Milita". Or just a string of letters for some kind of acronym, either a real one or one you can make up. "ADCH" for "Awesome Dudes Carry Haversacks". Design wise, a Star is good, or maybe that Australian star pattern on...

I'm sure that there are many, many people that wear that Stetson every day, and use it like it was meant to be used. Is it the majority? How many people still live a rural life that they need a cowboy hat? I'm also sure that quality means something to those guys that wear it every day, rain...

Hatco, I find your posts very interesting. I think the position of Non-custom hat makers in the market is precarious one. I can only imagine that you struggle with keeping your price reasonable, not sacrificing quality, AND (the big one) keeping production domestic, as your market simply...

With my Panama I have found that it kinda does what it wants. The only changes I have done are to lightly (very lightly) iron the brim so it was more uniform, and to give it a snap shape. Aside from that, if the humidity goes up (as it is currently) the brim gets a little wavy. I guess...

I'm 5'10" and, umm, lets go with husky:) The brim I think does more to make it look big then the crown. Uncommoness of hat wearing + Thin ribbon + Only word people have for a wide brimed hat made of felt = cowboy hat.
