I have a very similar stretcher to that one. I’ve never plugged it in, out of very reasonable caution, but I’ve used it with an iron from the outside with good success. I’ll post a picture when I have a chance.

Thanks for the encouragement! I’ve got some Chamberlains on hand to treat the leather. I’ve never used lizard, but that’s a great idea to save an old sweat.

First post - long time lurker. I had a great find yesterday at the flea market. This Royal Stetson Stratoliner is in unbelievably great shape, especially given that it wasn’t in a box. I’m no expert, but I think this is a really old hat. 1940s? 1950s? It’s my style. I could basically block it...
