    Killing mold on felt hats

Yes, the Hat I had restored, he sent the original sweatband back in a ziplock bag but it was completely coated in mold and not serviceable in any way. The Hat itself was not one of their top brands but I do collect Borsalino hats and it was a good looking hat so I didn't mind having the...

    Killing mold on felt hats

I found a vintage borsalino at a flea market and I got it for $7. It had obviously gotten wet and there was quite a bit of mold on the felt and on the leather band. I found a Hatter I believe in Spokane and sent it to him to see if it could be fixed. He was able to give it a bath in dry cleaning...

    Softening felt hat

Because it came undone. I was asking on another page about replacing it but I was able to stitch it back.

Thank you for the additional info. This particular hat came to me completely smashed and absolutely filthy. Luckily I've invested in a high quality steamer and I was able to clean and reshape the hat. The sweatband was pretty dry and had some cracks in it which I have repaired to the best of my...

I have another for the experts. I don't think this one is particularly old, probably no older than the 60s but it's the color scheme in the liner that has me interested. I recently picked this up at auction and I have not received it yet so I don't know what type of tags are underneath the...

Thank you. Based on the size stickers and the liners and couple other things, most of which I got off of this forum, that was my impression as well. Thank you for helping to confirm. Most of my collection is from the 50s to the 70s so it's nice to every now and then get a hold of an older...

    STETSON OPEN ROAD HELP PLEASE!!

This is the follow-up to my questions about the Vintage stetsons. This is the Royal Stetson that doesn't have a model inside of it that I suspect to be a mid-40s to very early 50s hat.

I'm going to throw these two out there for your consideration as to their vintage date. The first hat is going to be a vintage Stratoliner which I believe dates from the mid-40s to the early 50s. I purchased the Hat pretty much crushed but I was able to steam it back into shape and make it...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Purchased this mid-60s to early 70s Stetson 25 Open Road just recently. The hat is in pristine condition and the only sign of wear is some diminishing of the Stetson logo on the sweatband. The interesting thing about this hat is that the hat company that sold it is still in business today. The...

    The Open Road Guild

I recently started collecting ORs. I've also managed to pick up two twenty five ORs, one from the early 60s with a 3 1/4 brim and this one, a mid 60s-early 70s (from tag and liner) with a 2.5" brim. The cool thing about this most recent hat is that it was sold by shuddy Brothers in Houston...

    The Official Stetson 25 Thread

Finally got around to shaping my 25 OR. Physically it was in good shape but it needed cleaning and a good bash. Started by making the crown round and went from there.

Agreed. The purple center piece was not so common. The hat looks and is the same dimensions as the Strat. It is in great condition except for the sweatband stitching, which I repaired.

They started using the plastic in 53 after the Korean war and used it up until the 70s. As for the Deluxe, here's pics of the tags.

    The Official Stetson 25 Thread

I would agree with the mid to late fifties but I'm fairly certain that by the 60s they had already changed to the square tag that was black with gold numbers. I also have not been able to find any information as to how long they made the 25. The original creation of the 25 was because it was...
