You’ve got a pretty condescending way of getting your point across. I did what I did, I’m no expert, and never claimed to be one. It came out great in my opinion despite my complete lack of knowledge. Thanks for the lecture.

I like the wear and tear on the leather, as Marc mndt said: it’s got character. I considered using the Pecard’s Dressing that has black dye in it, but decided that I don’t want that.

I’m not an expert at this, but the jacket sucked the dressing up very quickly. And it certainly felt dry and kind of stiff. The leather feels much more natural now. Pliable and supple.

I’ll leave the black shoe paste to you, thanks. Believe me, the Leather was dry. I don’t know what type of axle grease you put on your jackets, but the Pecard’s Dressing absorbs completely into the leather. It was completely dry to the touch after the first application.

Well the jacket drank in the first application of Pecard’s Leather Dressing. So application two is now complete, and it’s out in the sun. And just to give you an idea how dried out this jacket was—all over—though some areas more than others… You can see the dried out and frayed/breaking fibres...

If you do: You’ll have to buy a pith hat, grow a beard, or at the very least, a moustache, then buy a pipe and start speaking with a British accent.

This is the process I used. It worked beautifully. After treating the leather, the jacket looks and smells brand new !

All of the character is still there. I’ve simply restored the oils to a neglected dried out jacket. I’m not particularly interested in having a parched leather motorcycle jacket that will disintegrate like an Egyptian mummy when I need it the most. Function and fashion. I like both—in that order.

I gave the jacket a dose of Pecard’s Leather Dressing today—it’s currently sitting out in the sun… absorbing. The leather looks really nice and feels super supple. I’ll know in a day or so if it needs a second treatment, but right now I’m thinking no.

The two way zip makes a lot of sense on a bike jacket if it’s a longer cut. I had a cross zip with a short zipper on each side with a leather flap inside (like the sleeve zippers on bike jackets). So off the bike the jacket was pretty form fitting, and on the bike it was super comfortable with...

Thanks. It does look much better, and it smells great—like a new jacket. I’m looking forward to using the leather dressing on it. I’ve used it on my main riding jacket over the years, and it darkens the leather and makes the leather even more supple.

Two treatments with the Pecard’s Leather Lotion done. The leather is nice and supple, and it smells like heaven. I’ll let the jacket drink it in for a while. This is the first time I’ve ever had to condition the inside of pockets! There’s a football field of leather on this thing!

Alright, the jacket is completely dry. The leather is only slightly stiffer than when I started this process. Time for the conditioning with Pecard’s Leather Lotion.
