exotical tropical

OK I'm no longer an Ebay fan and avoid them where possible, so I thought I'd test the waters (!!) here with this shirt. It's just a bit too small round the shoulders for me, as a lot of vintage stuff is, otherwise I wouldn't sell this for anything..I wear them, I don't put them on a wall somewhere.
This is an Australian resort shirt from the Barrier Reef's Heron Island, which opened in 1932. I'm trying to get more info on the actual date of the shirt, but I'd place it around the late 50's going on label and style etc, it's 16" across the shoulders and a 44" chest, and is the old M size 15 1/2. The design features all sorts of marine life, turtles flying fish angel fish, anemones etc etc, and is unusually (I never saw this before) designed in California. The fish are not stylised as they are in hawaiian shirts of the period, and the whole design is quite different to such shirts from South Pacific resorts of the time. Price can be discussed, or swaps, whatever, but this is a very good condition artifact, and a real treasure for someone who appreciates such stuff.



I've contacted the resort, and it's definitely early 60's, so I wasn't far off...not quite golden age but a rare thing anyway.
