On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
Intersting article in a recent edition of The Telegraph (UK) starts out this way...

There are very few celebrities who can pull off Forties' siren style like Scarlett Johansson. When the actress appeared at the Venice Film Festival last week wearing a long, cream vintage gown in silk and lace, with a sash belt and sparkling Chopard diamonds, she looked as though she had just stepped from the set of a Veronica Lake movie...

this line sums up your average person on the street's fear...."As long as you pair these pieces with something more androgynous – such as a pair of the slouchy ''boyfriend trousers" currently in the shops – you can avoid looking too obviously retro".

god forbid anyone should look too obviously retro.

and Brooks Brothers opening in London tomorrow ?

Here and there...
I saw that picture of Johansson last week while I was eating breakfast and reading the news (on my laptop) and nearly spit my coffee all over the screen.

That's one good looking gal and she appears to know how to dress. I don't think I have ever seen her wearing some of the dreck you see many other people in these days.

She wears evening clothes so well. She's very feminine. You rarely see her dressed like a slob. It would be nice to see her style catch on.

She also has a wardrobe consultant and stylist, who have decided that her 'deal' is the formal and vintage look right now.

Give credit to them, not to an actress that wears what she is told. ;)
Exactly. Scarlett is not "going retro". She is a like a child whose mother dresses her for an occassion. Nothing more.

Well even if she wants to 'go retro', which may or may not be true, she certainly isn't out there putting together the look herself.

SJ: I want to look retro! All that old school glam stuff!

Stylist: OK, I will put together some outfits and you can pick one for this event.
Hairsylist: Great! I will do your hair perfectly for the event!
Makeup Artist: I know just what to do for that 40's Vamp look.

SJ: Great! I will make all the fashion magazines with my new style.

etc....
