I tried it on again today and I'm convinced this is more 42 than it is 40. In fact I was expecting a 42, but then this came with a 40 tag...
As ever, if you look at the measurements the tale of the tape is revealing

Hey Marmalademan,
I've just looked at your fit photo on eBay, as I've seen it looks quite snug around your torso.
As far as I remember you usually wear regular size 40, so I don't think it may fit to anybody in size 42, esp. around their waist.
Very very trim fitted size 42 with size 40 waist - well, may be. But it doesn't look like regular size 42 on your fit photo.

No I think you're mistaken.
If I raise both arms to 90 degrees there's plenty of extra chest room. And though it does taper down to the waist (which is the shape of this model) even with it fully cinched in I still have room there too.
Conclusion. It would be a very good fit on an in shape 42. On me it's a pretty good fit.
From my own perspective what I've come to realise is that with my height I'm better off in 42s than I am in 40s, even though my chest is 40. 40s just tend to look a bit too fitted for my liking. This Arcadia actually fits exactly as I prefer, which is handy as I think I'll be keeping it!

I would never sell a jacket I couldn't replace...I think this is one such jacket. The chances of having one built again seem bleak...it's not like it's an Aero that you might need to wait a couple months for...

It means jacket season where I am is fast approaching and that this fine jacket which has been lovingly stored throughout the summer, and as such is virtually unworn... is about to start bring worn. Unless that is, one of you miserly bar stewards decides to cough up the necessaries without too much further delay.

How does the length feel on you? What I’m trying to convey is that some jackets “feel” longer than the measurement would otherwise imply. Hoping that’s the case here.

I'm just over 6,1" and the length is spot on Nick, as you'd expect from take 2. For added clarity, I did not tell John what to do, rather I showed him the pics of take 1 and let him do his thing. This is what he did and it feels perfect. The select few who hsve seen it on me in person are all agreed on that too.
For the record I can also add that I do not wear any shitty modern low rise skinny trousers, ever. If I were to adjust the length by half an inch, I would have it shorter over longer, fosho.. Though actually I think this is ideal as is tbh. Back in the day I gather that half belts in this size were typically about 24" long. I think those makers knew exactly what they were doing. That said, I have heard from a very reliable source that this particular model was in fact originally even shorter than that

I can leave this on here for a few more days. Then I'll have to abort and start wearing it myself since a) this is too good for storage and b) jacket season here is very short lived
If I had the dough I'd snatch this up right now without a moments pause...but I have to say man, if I were you, I'd keep it. You can wear this anywhere and it's an unpretentious style that just oozes cool and doesn't try to hard. It's no coincidence that the only Aero I haven't sold is a half belt. It's time to be a classic man.
That is right up until I can afford it, then disregard everything I said b/c halfbelts are for old men and you should really buy a cross zip or a CR and be:

My dear fellow of course MM has a cross zip and a CR! The former is broken in to perfection the latter I have not had time to start on yet
This HB will need a period of sustained wear for the leather to relax and conform and then it will be absolutely killer and I have no qualms about keeping it at all, which seems the most likely outcone at this point. It'll break faster than the CR, so this one can go first
