I emailed Florsheim and a kind gentleman told me how to date Florsheim shoes. Example of Inside marking; 81/2 D 614745 11 93602 IE. IE portion shows the month and the year of manufacture. J&M, Florsheim; when did Crown Aristocraft and Royal Imperial become top line?
If I remember correctly, Aristocraft and Imperial were their top line looong times ago. At some time the old top-of-the-line Aristocraft and Imperial were renamed Crown Aristocraft and Royal Imperial respectively and then Aristocraft and Imperial became lesser lines.
