https://www.flickr.com/photos/havocpaul/?saved=1 (Excuse the caps, I cut and pasted from a different previous listing elsewhere.) STUNNING ORIGINAL LATE 1940'S US NAVY 55J14 CONTRACT G-1 FLIGHT JACKET IN A SIZE 44. THESE FIRST G-1'S WERE OF EQUAL QUALITY AND RARITY AS THE WARTIME M-442A'S. THIS...

    Bowie's Hero's jacket...

I've been looking to find a good copy of that jacket for years! When I first saw him wearing it in 1977 I had no idea who made it. I also like the jacket he wore back in 1968, has a look of the Eastman Air Comfort about it (pre-dating Eastman by almost 20 years though!), although typical of many...

    Back where it belongs

What a haul! Glad it has finally returned home, no doubt the sale will be a massive success and hopefully make things seem a lot more positive now it's all sorted. For me I like that beat-up civvie(?) A-2 at the very end of the video, oh, and I want a Thrift Shop carrier bag for the memories :-) !

    Not impressed ELC

I have owned and handled several ELC B-6 and D-1 jackets over the years and yes, they are noticeably (and accurately) thinner than the B-3 but not to the extent that they are fragile, and I would seriously doubt you have a 'rogue' one as their quality control is second to none. I would suggest...

    Tanker vs. N1 Deck Jacket

I found an original WW2 N-1 earlier this year and it will be worn this winter, cost a fraction of the price of a BR one and has a real 'salty' look! I have had Tankers from ATF, WW2 Imp, and SM Wholesale and the latter two offer the best repros IMO, I have a first pattern one (patch pockets)...

Original 1960/70's US Police leather jackets FS

I am currently selling two of my original 1960/70's US leather Police jackets on eBay..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201433562118?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201433555457?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

    Eastman A-2 sizing?

I am 5'10.5", 180 pounds, 42 chest and always fit and wear a 42 from Eastman although a 44 will fit if I want extra layers beneath. I would think,as you were advised, that a 44 would be best for you and possibly a Long due to your height. I do find Eastman A-2's the most accurate of all the...

    Would you wear it?

    It was discussed here.....http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?35314-ALL-REPRO-R-A-F-Irvin-type-jackets/page43

    Would you wear it?

More proof for me that The Few is now just a fantasy label, overpriced and unauthentic. Don't get me started on their attempt at an Irvin!

removing shoulder decal from my A2

Difficult to remove all trace of a decal and you have to be careful not to discolour the leather where it was. Worth remembering should you ever then wish to sell the jacket it will be devalued if there is any damage or signs of removal.

    British Rocker Jackets c.1956-1969

A couple of great books worth checking out, 'The Clash' by Bob Gruen and 'The Clash Before and After' by Pennie Smith, the one band that perfectly mixed rock and leathers. Plenty of Lewis Leathers (already vintage ones when they were wearing them in the late 70's early 80's), and, after their...

    The Return of Mascot Leathers

I too discovered they were back when I browsed the Ace site, was initially quite excited but on closer inspection of the details I am not so sure, the hides look like typical high-street biker jacket type, the main zip is a large chunky YKK (I am not a fan of YKK zips on repro jackets!) and the...

    BR N-1 jacket 'Seawater-wash' question

Thank you Ian, I did wonder as they must use some chemicals in addition to salt water to get that finish, the alpaca lining doesn't really smell which I thought would if it was due to smoking. I haven't found the lining itchy so far and I tried it on in short sleeves so hopefully that won't be...

    BR N-1 jacket 'Seawater-wash' question

I got myself a nice Buzz Rickson N-1 deck jacket in their 'seawater wash' finish for a very good price on eBay and it just arrived in the post this morning. I need some feedback please as to whether these 'seawater' jackets should have a strong smell? It hit me as I opened the box and initially...

Any B-10 USAAF flight jacket expert here? Need help.

I stand by my comments. The jacket is not a BR or other high-end repro, as Ausreenactor says, these cheaper jackets came with CBI and 8th AAF patches (!?), no doubt many owners removed them!. I am sure they have a value but not in the range of the far more accurate BR, ELC or RM ones. In that...

Any B-10 USAAF flight jacket expert here? Need help.

Definitely not a Buzz or any other high-end repro, these, as has been noted elsewhere, are a cheap copy and usually come with those patches. Tell-tale signs are the lack of Army Air Forces decal and stamp inside the windflap and the incorrect zip which is a modern copy. It doesn't look like he's...

    Real McCoy's are closing down..?

To add my two-pence worth, I am in agreement with John (and it seems others too) in that the early (we're talking late 1980's/early 90's) Eastman wool, in particular the merino wool, on the B-3, RAF, and USN shearling jackets was much nicer and more authentic than the recent and current hides...

    Real McCoy's are closing down..?

Maybe but it was always thought of as a New Zealand company to many collectors and whatever the link, certainly the price differences between their jackets and RMJ were large.

    Real McCoy's are closing down..?

Sad news if true. They made some of the nicest sheepskin jackets and contracts that other repro makers didn't do, their hides were superb. Over the years I have owned their B-3 and M-445 which I bought second-hand and they were great jackets. With RMJ and The Few prices beyond reason and ELC...
