We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving at my parents house. The 5 married siblings who live close will be coming home to join the 4 of us still at home. Along with their spouses and kids that's gonna be 26, and we're having a few friends with no local family over to bring the total number up to 33...
Horrors! I'm pretty young, but I remember these! The reason being, my mom used an old dentist (he was probably 60-70 when I was 6) and he had one of those. He was very old school, to the point that he drilled two cavities in my back molars without Novocain.... to this day I can not hear any high...
Well even for me growing up in the 80's-90's with 9 siblings and one well being shared by 3 homes, we only got complete bath's once a week on Saturday. But, Mom made sure we scrubbed face, hands, arms and feet at least once a day. Not until we reached 12-13 were we allowed to bathe more often.
The Coconut and Castor you should be able to get at health food stores. Coconut is sometimes sold in the health/organic section of grocery stores, and the Castor will be in the body care section of health food stores.

My favorite perfume ever was Avon's Vanilla Soft Musk.
My Mom gave me a bottle years ago, and I only recently went to look for more (I refused to wear perfume for ages!) and was devastated to realize it's been discontinued years ago. It was the BEST Vanilla scent ever!
I can still get it...

My sister and I had a horribly windy encounter last spring. We were in Gettysburg, PA with our family and we were wearing long, trumpet flared skirts.
It was a deliciously windy day, but on the ground it really wasn't causing us any problems.
Not until we had climbed one of the look out...
:P
Well, I can't find much info on-line, but it's gone over quite extensively in Nourishing Traditions.
Basically, it's how all pickled foods used to be kept. Think, sauerkraut, pickles, relishes, salsas, soured dairy products like yogurt and kefir and such.
Lactic acid is present in...
So has anyone here used lactic acid food preservation techniques? I was just enjoying some of my lactic acid preserved dill pickles and thought I'd ask.
Great point, Scotty. My parents were loving but terrifically strict with us kids (and we were homeschooled) and while we were kids, there was no doubt that they were our PARENTS! Now that most of us are grown, we've become close friends with our parents. I don't believe we'd have such a good...
Seriously, no on is suggesting that teenagers can function well by going to bed at midnight and get up full of pep and zip at 6:00 AM.
What they're saying is, teach the kids to take responsibility for their own well being and go to bed at 9:00 PM!
Most teenagers I know have tv's, dvd...
