Man, the rain is sitting right on top of us and it won't let up. Seemed like a great chance for me to get my Saxon to shrink to fit. It's sitting on the crown on a paper towel, and now I'm wondering: should I take the snap out of the brim as it dries to preserve its symmetry?
All I can tell you is my Chatham is a "hard hat." The felt is very thick and stiff.

Got a caribou Saxon from Delmonico today. Love it! It's a 59 LO. 59s are loose on my head to start with. I'll see if this one tightens up a tad like the Akubra did.
And part of all that is figuring out the pricing so they'll sell, THEN figuring out how much you want to skim, THEN spec'ing it out so it doesn't take more than whatever remains. Nothing wrong with that. I just ain't buying.
Played clarinet starting in 4th grade. Picked up guitar in 7th grade. Got an electric in 9th. Memorized all the Jamerson bass lines listening to the station at the end of the AM dial. Finally bought an awful bass for $14.52 in 10th grade and sat there for a month with the Moby Grape LP, putting...
Grandpa wore a grey c-crown every day of his life, except in the summer, when he wore a straw c-crown. Dad wore a grey c-crown, except in the summer, when he wore a straw c-crown, but he quit wearing hats in the mid-60s. I'm wearing a grey c-crown, except in the summer, when I wear a straw...
Just got a Stylemaster in moonstone. Compared to my Chatham, the finish seems somewhat pilled. I should have gotten it in black to hide the finish. The medium thickness makes it slightly floppy, but without the rubberiness I like. Anyone got any "rubbery" thin fur felt Stetsons to recommend?
The Master's Hat, short talk from Masonic Service Association of North America.
When I learned the lectures, I bought the hat I'd later wear during "my year" as Master of my lodge (the lecturer takes over as Master while delivering the lecture, a mandatory part of degree work, and so must...
Got a freebie AAS from the Air Force (only in the Air Force is music an applied science), then a diploma from a hardcore old school hospital RN program. Nursing has tightened up (new grads aren't getting hired these days), so it's probably time to get an online BSN to stay one step ahead of the...
Holy crow! Only 495 in 2010 dollars? After a zillion years making a living as a musician, I'm in love with tuxes, comfortable as PJs, and I've always wanted a "non-tux" suit, but never found one. And here are all the ingredients for the perfect non-tux, including some completely unnecessary ones...
Needing a new utility blazer, I began surfing and immediately noticed that brass blazer buttons, which were at one time definitional, are now a rare sight. What's up with that?
