The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard

"Why is uncle wearing a cowboy hat?" from my four-year-old niece (hence excused for two reasons), when I was wearing a fedora style Panama. Any stiff hat with a brim is a cowboy hat, or a Mexican hat (as I wrote in an earlier post in this thread regarding the same Panama).

    What are you wearing today??

I've shown the hat here before, but not the bowtie. I'm hooked on bowties now, since I've got a good selection of neckties. At last count, I have six bowties (pre-tied don't count). Six or eight hats, depending on what you count as a hat. Two dozen sunglasses. A few suits. I'm becoming a...

The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard

This morning, I'm walking to the train station in black Reeboks, black shorts (below-knee length, I'm no barbarian!), short-sleeved gray shirt with printed dice... and a white Panama, Fedora style. It is summer, warm and sunny. I cross paths with a young couple. The girl giggles, maybe there...

My first hatbox, found it today at a flea market. Yesterday I was at an antique/curio shop. Immediately I saw five, 5, fine men's hats. Fur felt, made and/or sold[1] (the stamps inside indicated so) in my town or the nearby city. Cheap, compared to what a new Real Hat costs. And they were...

    What are you wearing today??

National day of Sweden, I thought I should wear yellow and blue since those are the colors of the Swedish flag. Blue shirt, yellow silk bowtie: I'm starting to get the hang of bowtie tying, and I'm bidding on some on an auction site. More practical than neckties when sitting down or moving...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

The clothing chain H&M has been selling cheap "hats", US$10 or less for a good while now, and it's been a youth fashion item for some years. The indoctrination has worked well! Although I saw a kid in T-shirt and a frayed and battered bowler yesterday. I'd picture a Finn in a red or olive...

    who belongs to a Lodge

I'm an officer, Recording Secretary, in an Odd Fellows lodge in Sweden. Two or three meetings a year, when initiatory and 3rd degree is given, it's white tie (black vest), othertimes the dress code is dark suit and gray necktie.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Too warm for the tan wool gambler or the black Trilby, too casual for the brown fedora, too sunny for the straw Trilby or the straw fedora (not wide enough brim). I don't have a purple velvet top hat. Panama it is. I... seem to have hats.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Yes, in fact I have two navy sweaters. I like the patches/reinforcement on the elbows. One of them has a pocket on the upper arm, the other is military surplus and has (it seems) been owned by a brit named Thompson.

    What are you wearing today??

Short-sleeved white shirt and dark narrow tie with straight end. I'd only have to add my Ray-Ban Wayfarer prescription glasses to look like I should be sitting at a console in Mission Control, Houston, Texas in mid- to late 1960s. Nice feature of the pants: rubberized thread in the...

    What are you wearing today??

Wearing to work today: Khaki/beige cotton trousers, the same nuance and similar weave as the beige linen vest and suit jacket. White shirt, red and white polka dot bowtie (hand-tied of course). Straw Trilby. It's the last day here before we start moving offices to another town, so I thought I...
