You sound like a good egg, Ray. Best of luck to you.

Ray- I understand what you mean and appreciate your candor. Your points are all well-taken. I got excited when I read bburtner's original post. Here was an older guy who obviously had TONS of experience buying and selling antiques and vintage clothing. And on top of that, he actually DISAGREED...

Agreed...off to yet another urban youth baggy pants thread!

This "ridiculous topic" speaks directly to the content that is presented here and how NEW OPINIONS are received, or NOT received by readers in this forum.

I believe you meant to type "function's for" or "function is for". Amen to that. I also noticed that you removed the dagger from the original poster's back by deleting your petty "space bar" email from before. It would have been nice if it had never been posted in the first place.

What's the motivation for me, or anyone else, to take plunge, Feraud? To hope they won't be lopped off at the knees like bburtner was? If differing opinions were truly welcome here, you wouldn't have to ask for them.

    It`s all been done before.

The DISCUSSION may have started (in your opinion) in post #5 and was indeed an opposing position, a disagreeing position, a "calling-on-the-carpet" position, but it was my understanding that a forum is set up for this. The SANDBAGGING began when someone's typing skills were belittled and later...

A potentially enjoyable, educational AND intelligent conversation never got off the ground because the original poster of this thread was sandbagged.

MadelienneBlack- Your post is honest and I respect that, but I think you may have missed the point. To me, if you read between the lines, bburtner's original post wasn't about how much an antique bass should cost or a what a pair of pants is worth. I admit it, I responded defensively to his...

I said "Sounds like sour grapes..." (disagreement), not "Mr. Sour Grapes" (namecalling). There is a difference.

Yet another life experienced contributor chased away by snobs. The anonymity of the internet that makes people "brave" is the worst thing to ever happen to actual LEARNING. Bburtner has valuable collecting and retro appreciation experience that could have benefitted many people in their future...

Take THAT, bburtner! How DARE you post your thoughts without first consulting the most recent edition of the Acceptable Online Keystroke Guide for Internet Forum Postings... (Actually, I could read your ideas very clearly and appreciate your experienced opinions--thanks for them)

I have read your second email. I see now that your frustration goes much deeper than the current price of antiques and vintage. Perhaps you can share your experience and knowledge about the marketplace with other young folks, including your daughter. Since it's true that everything comes back...

Sounds like sour grapes to me. If you buy your khakis at Target, what do you care what others spend their money on? Are you irritated that the "young bucks" have gobbled up the vintage khaki "market" by spending too much for the same old stuff that you want to buy? If so, you've found a...

My Custom Tailor Disaster - Hold those orders!

Savoia custom suits? SJ- Since you are in the Big Apple... Perhaps you have heard about Savoia in the East Village? It's a custom suit shop that I've heard creates wonderful custom menswear in 1940's designs. Savoia has recently outfitted many of the actors for scenes in "The Sopranos"...
