Now those are the comments I wish the boyfriend and I could get! When we're in Minneapolis, it's all polite and "My aren't you two good looking!" but in his town it's often rude or asking if we're in a play. Sigh.
I'd much rather be a superhero than an actor.
Lovely imagine...
He'd be tall, over 6', blue eyes, strong jaw and chin. Crisp white shirt, dark trousers and a burgundy tie, his jacket is slung over a chair somewhere because he got warm. As to music? Who cares, if I'm being swept off my feet, I won't even notice.
As I was coming back last weekend, I literally had three people stop me on my way to the train to ask what play I was in. One lady did compliment the dresses I bought from Land o' lakes gal.
The cold is better than the hot, though.
As to the shutdown, I haven't seen anything explode yet. My lights are on, my buses run. Really, we're getting on quite well without.
I wanted pie charts, too! Someone get on that!
I'm female,

In the beautiful city of Minneapolis MN,
And I seem to be a spinster aunt. Or an old maid librarian!
Oh halp! My sewing machine decided to die in the middle of finishing a top. It's a Kenmore and I've had it since Jr. High. I'm thinking of getting another Kenmore, but have been eyeing a Singer, too. Any suggestions on which way to go?
It's nice to see other young people who love old stuff! I'm 23, and have been in love with the mid 20th century as long as I can remember. (Except for a couple years where the obsession was Thomas Jefferson) I didn't realise until last summer that a vintage lifestyle was even possible, and now...
I was having the same trouble until just recently. Now I divide the bangs in fourths, and curl them toward the side I want them to lay. After that, all I can suggest is BRUSH! I often brush out just my bangs for as long as I brush the rest of my hair. It's been getting good results, though.
So many people say so many negative things! It's unfortunate. On the other hand, last week at work, one of my favorite pilots comes up to me (I'm a flight attendant) and does a double take. I've got my hair curled and pinned back at the sides and was wearing red lipstick. His eyes got really big...
One more question! I've started on a skirt for Christmas, and everything is basted up. I'm ready to put in the fasteners, I was thinking snaps would be easier, but the directions are confusing me. They tell me the "finish back edge with a 2 3/4" wide (cut) underlap, finish front edge with a 2"...
Oh squee! I wasn't sure how period wearing colors was, and now? I can break out all the brights that have been sitting in my drawer. Thanks for the info!
So I've been reading this thread, and I've been doing MASSIVE amounts of research, and I've found that tracing all my vintage patterns is the best idea. However, I'm at a loss as to how this is accomplished. How do you get the pattern to lie still on the paper, do you use pencil or marker, what...
Yesterday I was at an antique shop, hunting down some old books for my mother. I do "vintage Sundays" right now because my wardrobe isn't big enough for everyday, and I was all dressed up. The shop owner, who was about five feet tall and in her seventies, comes up to me and says "I just love...
