Lovely, lovely things, ladies!
I want to join the $10 club too, but how come everything I bid on always ends up far out of my reach?
*sigh*Champagne taste on a beer budget, I suppose. [huh]
Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled at Brimfield, Linda!
And beautiful things, as always! I don't have anything to share. I've been so busy I barely have time to work!
Both of those Lilli Anns are DIVINE! So divine that I nearly spilled my coffee when I saw it. If anyone ever comes across a beautiful 40s 50s, sculptural Lilli Ann suit that has a 32-34 inch bust, please pick it up for me! I've been looking for years.
My absolutely favorite skirt is a 40s rayon jersey red, green and gray tropical print on a white background. It is SO lightweight and comfortable, that Ive been on the look out for more. I wore it in Panama in February where it was terribly hot and sticky, and I stayed fairly cool.
I live in a very windy place, so I'm always worried about my skirts and dresses blowing up (so far, I've only had 2 major mishaps) :o
I am always sure to wear boy cut undies when I'm wearing a skirt that has a good possibility of floating up.
How on earth did Marilyn make it look so good?!
Either you ladies are very lucky, or your pockets are much deeper than mine. I've lost out on everything I've bid on this week! not like I need to be spending money, anways...
Beautiful things! Daisy-as always your wins are incredible! And I am LOVING those pin up girl Vogarts....killer!
It hasn't happened in years, but on two different occasions, in two completely different places I was mistaken for a Destiny. [huh]
Apparently Destiny and I are twins!
Ugh, that seller (timelessvixen) is bad news!
I just lost out to her buying ID on a rayon dress with a few spots, etc. No doubt she is going to turn around and sell it as MINT condition. She has several dresses up right now that I was able to find on her buying ID. They were originally sold...
SPRING-O-LATORS!!
I've been searching and searching for GREEN heels to match my lime dress. I finally found some, just my size....with two other pairs, too! The tiger ones and the red ones are in rough shape, but I will definitley invest to restore them. The green ones are Frederick's of...
What about out of an old light weight cotton quilt?
I bought it at an auction, and shame on me for not inspecting it first. The edges are completely worn through, with various holes throughout. It has patchwork cottages around the edges done in pale pink and light green. I think it would make...
I came across some fabulous fabric remnants at the estate of a seamstress. The first two are barkcloth-I wish I had whole bolts of it!
Now to figure out something clever to do with them!
In our last apartment before we bought our house, the guy who lived downstairs happened to be the son of the owner-a well to do lawyer.
The son, who was the live in maintenance man, was a strange old hippie type who smoked mass amounts of pot. I swear, our apartment constantly reeked of...
My mothers father used to say 'Well, I'll be dipped in rosey red turkey sh*t'. Not sure how era appropriate that is, but I use it.
I really like the 'on active duty' bit. That's great! lol
I am completely stumped by a suit that I recently acquired.
It's a very sharp 3pc DB suit, with nice wide lapels and pant legs. Very fine tone on tone herringbone tweed with a very subtle pin stripe. Inside label reads 'Made to Measure Expressly for: L. Saito' with a date of November 1950...
Not that this will help you at all, but I thought you might like to see it!
I thought the cigarette girl shown here was adorable! Taken at Viva, just after the car show:
We didn't do an engagement announcement, but here is our wedding invite.
All info was printed on a see-through green vellum, which slipped into a sleeve with a martini cut out on the front:
I found the martini sleeves online (for a VERY hefty price!) but I searched and searched and...
Her son referred to her skills of draping, tucking and folding of fabrics as engineering. She is an absolute master of draping, even more so than Dorothy O'Hara who was also known for her top notch draping.
I've always loved her dresses, but I have a new appreciation after touching...
