Not sure what you don't get about me not wanting to wear someones stinking vintage shoes, I find it a bit nasty to be honest, feet are vile, and mens feet ultra-repulsive. Nor do I want to spend $350 for a pair of shoes, I have three kids to feed, a wife in college, and a mortgage...
I received the Florsheim Imperials in the mail today and I was impressed, they each came wrapped in a velvet pouch, the leather is thick and of a high quality, the shoe is fully leather lined with a full sewn leather sole, including a nailed heal. The shoe overall is impressive made in India or...
Those Allen Edmond wingtips are very nice no doubt, but they are also $350 - $500+ which is well outside my price range. They are literally double the cost of the Florsheim's so they should be much nicer.
I agree that I do not like European flair I've seen with most wingtips. I returned a pair of Bostonia Alito's because they had the lengthened toe and slim fit, they looked like clown shoes to me, back they went.
I love American made products too trust me, I ride a Harley, pay more for...
Keep in mind I paid $180 for these, I know they're made in India, it is what it is, I would rather they were made in the USA but I don't need a $500.00 pair of shoes for every occasion.
If you can give me a link to handmade English shoes shipped for $180.00 I'll promptly return these and buy...
Apparently the consensus is that I was a horses arse. David, honestly sorry if I offended you, carry all your pens till your hearts content. If I offended anyone else accept my apology.
Thanks, I just ordered them. I found a promo code NEXT20 (these never work, this one did) which took $45.00 right off the price, got them for $180.00 shipped.
I love how the vintage Florsheim Imperials look, but I just can't do the used footwear, I picture some dudes sweaty hoof in it and...
Put on your big boy pants David, no one is insulting you, I own two of the pens you posted, fine pens. It's a message board and it isn't always ego stroking.
I have a good collection of fountain pens, but I just collect them, I know there is a ton of redundancy going on, they're all good writers, if they're not they go. Montblanc 149? Writes about as well as a $30 Lamy, I sold it for that fact, I couldn't justify the cost of a pen that was that...
You should ditch the FP and just buy a decent ball point where you can write longhand and take notes in a margin. Again I think this idea that you need a different pen for every relatively pedestrian activity you do with a pen a bit odd, and I believe it's all in your head. I can't imagine how...
Being a collector is fine, but none of those pens are collectors aside from the Esterbrook J. If you want to collect pens that's great, but if you have a pen that isn't good at writing certain things then I would say it's just a poor pen. The idea you need a separate pen for different mundane...
A pen should be able to just write, you shouldn't need a separate pen for activities like one for writing notes in a margin, and one for signing checks, one for writing in a journal etc... These all basically cheaper entry level pens, you should sell all of them and buy one good pen that does...
Lamy Safari and a Pelikan m200, both are fountain pens, they've been my go to pens. I have larger pens than the m200 and more expensive ones than the Safari, but I seem to always come back to these two. The m200 fits perfectly in a shirt pocket, and it's light so it doesn't pull your pocket...
You are using gold because in 1950 it was at an all time low because we were moving off the gold standard, today it is at an all-time high because of the "great recession" and it fits your agenda.
Every other method of calculating inflation between 1950 and 2013 has a horsehide jacket from a...
In the old catalog a horsehide BUCO went for $35.00 in 1950, inflation adjusted that's $350 or so. In no way does inflation account for the near $2000 prices we see today.
We are not and have not been on the gold standard for some time, I'm not sure why we're comparing Hourshide prices in...
It's more rare and unique than cowhide at this point in history would probably be the only reason. Put cowhide and horsehide together and 99 people out of 100 couldn't tell the difference.
NYC's days as a gritty working class mecca are over, it's now home to soccer moms pushing $1000 strollers, and white guys wearing Birkenstocks, fanny packs, and sporting unkempt beards. We can all remember NYC fondly but now it's Disney Land.
I would imagine this was added to the website after the story broke about Aero using steerhide on horsehide orders on this message board. This market is very small there are only a handful of people that make jackets like Aero and LW, I guess it's a business tactic.
At least we we know he...
