I don't think I really go by a set decade or era-- my hair is usually very 1940s, my clothes tend to be closer to the 1950s, and my jewelry usually looks 1930s. fixing stockings
I'm not sure how to fix them in the way you describe, but I do know that for very small holes clear nail polish is great! I just put a drop on the hole or tear and that prevents the hole/tear from getting any worse and ruining the hose entirely.- Jo Larke

Favorite liquid eyeliner
I use Sormé Jet Liner. It's very easy to apply and it stays on all day! I've only ever seen it at my local beauty supply stores, but if you go to http://www.sorme.com/locator.php you can see if there's a store near you that has it. I get mine for $8.
