My Akubra Cattleman has become an experiment. When I first got it, I felt is was too tight and didn't like how high on my head it sat. So I tried my hand at reshaping it and made the crown a little taller. Now that I have abused it a little bit, it feels a tad loose and I'm not sure I like the...
I have been playing with it a bit now that the felt is saturated. The diamond bash left enough room for my head but I ran into a problem. The open crown seems to be about 5 1/2" but I need 4 1/2" for my head. Because of that the bash sits up on the dome of the crown rather than extending the...
That crossed my mind but I'm not sure I can swing that look.
Also, for clarification, I have plenty of room in the front of the hat. It is only the back where I need the extra room.
So my beloved Akubra Cattleman is bobbing around in the sink right now. I realized it was sitting on my dresser more than on my head. I love the hat but it just never felt right and I would fidget with it constantly whenever I wore it. I never understood why it felt funny but I finally figured...
Yes, I do believe my head is tapered. I seem to have a lot of trouble getting hats to fit. I usually want to tug them down very low and usually wear overly large sizes to facilitate that. Will my Akubra form to my head and fit better? Or should I return it and look for something that cooperates...
The hat is snug, my hair is short, it rides slightly higher than I would like but is within a reasonable range. Any sort of moderate wind will slide the hat up my head and then off if I don't immediately shove the hat back down. I cant hardly wear the hat outside without holding it down the...
I have a Bailey western that is a few years old that is actually made out of angora. While it is not a terrible hat, it is not that great either. Bailey does not use a very good sweat band and while I can not speak for the Tino I find my particular hat to be far too stiff. The result is a hat...
It is roughly 1 1/2 fingers so I don't think its too high. The hat looks good and it feels good so I would say it fits, but it blows off very easily which is very irritating. I don't know if a bigger size would help or not.
Sorry, my original post was not very clear. I am worried my Akubra is too small rather than too big. It is comfortable and seems to fit well but gets blown off by anything more than a gentle breeze. I have larger hats that are less prone to being blown off simply because they are loose and ride...
Regarding fit and security.
I ordered an Akubra through David Morgan and I am having trouble deciding if I want to exchange sizes. There is nowhere to try on a quality hat within several hundred miles so I can only guess and speculate for fit.
The Akubra seems to fit well. The sweatband is...
Hello everyone. I've had the desire to get myself a "real" hat for awhile. Every time I had a question my searching always left me at this forum so I figured I should join. My Akubra Cattleman showed up yesterday and I have found it looks great with casual wear. However, I am thinking I need a...
