Yes, I do believe my head is tapered. I seem to have a lot of trouble getting hats to fit. I usually want to tug them down very low and usually wear overly large sizes to facilitate that. It is roughly 1 1/2 fingers so I don't think its too high. The hat looks good and it feels good so I would say it fits, but it blows off very easily which is very irritating. I don't know if a bigger size would help or not. -
