    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

As far as using poly is concerned, I think It'll come down to how people feel about the physical feel of the tie. Because let's be honest, some modern blends look incredibly vintage... but then you touch them and they feel like sh**! :eusa_doh: Would that matter, is the question? I'm sure it...

    What are you wearing today??

Perfect fit, beautiful color combinations... and all within a very specific time period! This is what I strive for! Great job!

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

Every once in a blue moon... I find a great tie at a Los Angeles Goodwill or Salvation Army. There are just way too many collectors, vintage clothing store owners, foreign buyers, costumers, etc... In fact, I don't remember the last time I found a good one. :( Another thing that bothers be...

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

 I see this happening at my local antique fairs as well. Along with the overwhelming number of japanese buyers there is also a staggering number of trendy people looking for vintage items. Now, they are not usually looking for the really old stuff, but when they find it they don't pass it...

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

I guess it all comes down to whether or not one is happy with buying mall products. I have not seen any neckties at the mall that come at all close to vintage neckties of the late 1940's and early 50's. It also comes down to the quality of the repros and the selected prints. And I'm talking...

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

No profit intended, I just want to know if it is possible for those of us who are interested in the idea. I am just trying to plan for the future... and I sincerely believe that the well of vintage ties will dry up within the next ten years. What doesn't end up on the racks of private collectors...

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

I wish I lived in Kentucky! Here in Los Angeles, finding great vintage neckties (along with everything else) is growing more and more difficult. Our antique fairs are being taken over by japanese buyers who snatch up just about everything! By the way, I drove through kentucky a few...

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

This would probably be the most time consuming, assuming you are silk screening. The material would indeed be difficult, but I actually thought the construction would be the easy part. All one needs is a good eye and a sewing machine. ;)

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

I don't know, the Toyo hawaiian shirts fooled several huge collectors at the beginning, who were paying BIG money, thinking they were rare originals.

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

I definitely see your point with wanting to wear only authentic vintage neckties. I too am a serious vintage necktie collector and I plan on wearing them till the day I am gone. The fact remains... the number of great vintage neckties is slimming down and that is resulting in higher prices...

    Reproduction Vintage Neckties?

I have been pondering this for the past few weeks and figured I would present the idea to you. Do you think it is possible to have your favorite vintage necktie (I am speaking specifically of the wide, printed variety from the late 40's and very early 50's) reproduced? I come across so many...

Are You a "Serious" Collector? The Categorization of Fedora Loungers.

Amen! Contrary to the opinions of MANY vintage collectors, I am not a fan of gabardine and try to avoid it for two reasons: "Repairability" and "shine". Give me the tweeds, the worsted wools, the linens and the goodall! Sorry to be a bit off topic everyone:eusa_doh:

Yeah, me to. I can pretty much reweave anything up to Pendleton Virgin Wool. Anything woven tighter than that, I won't even try.

That sounds wonderful! If I could afford it, everything in my home would be 30's American Deco. Imagine how much that would cost! One day... I pray. Yes, preservation! This is the most important thing, is it not? Since you are very much into care and preservation, would you happen to know a...

Are You a "Serious" Collector? The Categorization of Fedora Loungers.

Thank you very much! Yes, I too have witnessed the arguments that this general topic has started in the past. The problem with the previous threads is that there was no "categorization", therefore, everyone felt compelled to argue back and forth as to what it meant to be a "serious...

Not too modern. I think Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons would like this one! ;)

:eusa_clap I like it! Im curious, do you wear the clothing, drive your car and use your knick knacks, etc? If so, you may fall a little bit under the "Period-Specific General Living Full-Timers" category. If you don't use your items and they are just there for eye candy, then I think "Archivist"...

I actually do a great Dr.Phil impression! I enjoy being analytical. I feel that these are the kinds of conversations that keep things interesting. Analysis, experimentation and discussion (with a little humor thrown in) is the key to advancement! But... some people are more comfortable...

Interesting... Read on. So, you don't like people projecting their motives onto you... but you are a Major! Military? If so, I applaud you and thank you for your service! However, the fact that you joined such a ranking organization proves that your entire life is based around people...
