I believe this black beret is from Dorthea Kitting Mills in Canada. I know that Dorthea did use "Fleur De Lis, Genuine Basque Beret" but I cannot find an emblem/logo like it anywhere but did find this statement:
In the early years (1943-1946), Canadian manufacturers would stamp their markings...
So I found a great little hat but can find no info about it. The embossed gold label on the leather band haS a crest with the words "for everymans head" on it
under that it says Morgans Special. The label under the band for duplicate ordering says "Buckley Brooks"
Does anyone know anything...
Dobbs Game Bird...
I have a beautiful Dobbs hat, the stamp in brim says Dobbs Game Bird Made in Canada Under License. Who was making them in Canada? Does this help me date the hat? It also has a duplicating number under the band
thanks
Beth
Hi just joined! have read stuff here off and on as it is an amazing resource for hat info! I have always loved and collected vintage, recently have been selling some of my collection so have been researching some of my hats. Looks like an amazing group!! looking forward to learning.
