Hey there, I have a few hat blocks, #51's, Salt, and #400's. I can see subtle differences in them, but I don't know exactly what blocks are best for what hats. Where could I find more info on them (and hat blocks as they pertain to hat styles in general?) Thanks! -

I looked more carefully. The sweatband is sewn into place with kind of a unique stitch pattern and I would hate to destroy it. So it's going to stay hidden. :D -

I just posted this in the hat forum, and a member encouraged me to post this here. Picked up a Alexander & Oviatt hat at a vintage store near Hollywood the other day. It's felt and silk and in pretty good condition given it's age.- fetching

I'm also thinking that after reading the article that I linked to, where it says Alexander died in 1921. The hat you linked to just says Oviatt's, so perhaps it was made after that, but if mine says Alexander and Oviatt, and the owner of the hat was born in 1911, he would have been just a kid if... -

The sweatband is actually sewn down, except in the tiny spot where my husband is pulling it back to show the store tag. Here's the liner logo, thanks for reminding me. -

I'm wanting to display my collection of Stetson, Resistol, Akubra, Borsalino, Dobbs and Baron hats (among others) on the wall of my studio. I have probably 20-25 hats to display and was going to use 3" black pipe with a flange and a cap, but that would cost well over $150. which is awfully... -

Here's a Baron Custom hat from Baron Hats in Burbank, CA. They make most of the hats for the movies. I sent a photo of it to the owner of Baron and he told me it was at least 25 years old and made by the original owner. I'm hoping to pop by the shop with it sometime for them to tell me more... -
