I have both the Reward and two Fredericks, gray and navy. The Reward looks great, but shantung is like a paper. Don't let it get too wet. Frederick is wool, so a lot of people here won't like it for that, but I get many compliments on them as they look great.

I am between all sizes. 7 3/8, 57.5 and 22 5/8 circumference. In Akubra, I order 58. My Lawson was loose at first even with the tape in foam, now its nice and snug without. My newer Snowy River was loose, but shrinking nicely.

I have a Stetson open road in silverbelly, recently acquired. I agree that it looks very light tan, almost feminine. I don't see any silver or gray. Here is a picture.

    Need boot ideas

I compromised. A deal appeared too good to be passed up. For the price of the Thursday's President, I was able to order an Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill Boot. It was on clearance for $250 and with 20% off clearance today, it came to $200. It's too late to second guess myself, but what...

My Panama Hats Direct hat was less than $200, in your range.

I have, and like his stuff, just very expensive. I have been looking at an item in my size on Ebay from halfpricepauley for a Brent Black Hartford York straw hat for around $500 for the past few months, but it doesn't list the thread count and the picture shows a different size than the...

This is a picture from PHD and it looks just like it. You can see the weave is real nice, they call it Superfino. I had them put on a brown leather band instead of the black material.

I have one, and the dent edges are not as sharp, crisp, well defined as my other hats, straw included.

I agree with Panama Hats Direct for the weaving, but you will probably have to have it reblocked to get a crisper look.

Ditto with the Akubra. It has proven itself in the rain without losing its shape when left to dry on its own. I also have a brown Stetson Benchmark 100% beaver that looks too pretty to chance spotting in the rain. I do have a crushable wool Stetson Bozeman that keeps its shape in the rain. I...

    Need boot ideas

I too am looking for a decent pair of boots. I was comparing the Alden Indy with the White Semi Dress or MPs when I also noticed Thursday Captain Boots. I liked that they were somewhat dressy as well as appearing well made, full grain leather and Goodyear welting. Please write about your...

    Canadian Stetsons

Thanks for the advice. The lining is glued in pretty good, but I could reach my fingers in the overlap and I couldn't feel any paper. The lining has worn pretty thin and is somewhat transparent, but I couldn't see any sign of paper underneath. The fur underneath feels pretty fresh surprisingly.

Sorry, there's no trace of a tag, everything on the inside of the sweatband is completely worn away except a hand drawn 4 in white.

I'm between sizes, 7 1/8 is a little snug (but not tight) and 7 1/4 is definitely loose. I prefer to get 7 1/4 and after several wearings, fiollowed by short periods left in the car, it shrinks to a perfect fit.
