This was located at 3442 Lila Drive in Orlando, Florida. The owner was David Dilday (don't go there) who sold it to Bill Smith of Sunrise Beach, Missouri who then donated it to the Kansas National Guard Museum, and it's now on display at Forbes Field in Topeka. Some images of Bingmaps bird's...

    Hatfields & McCoys

Is this the first true acted out movie-style drama for The History Channel, not to be confused with the brief scenes of docudramas they usually do? Several years ago National Geographic (with Hallmark) did a made for made-for-TV movie on Stanley and Livingstone that was pretty decent. It...

    Hatfields & McCoys

It's about time this story of Americana was revisited, and it was filmed in Romania, like Cold Mountain. The last production of this type was a made-for-TV movie in 1975. Later this year a big screen version called Bad Blood: The Hatfields and McCoys will be released, filmed in Kentucky.

Never thought I'd go for Netflix...

...but after losing all video rental stores in the area I decided to give it a try. Now I'm working that free month trial like a borrowed mule and found some titles I didn't expect to line up in the queue. W. C. Fields and Me (with Rod Steiger in the title role), 1911, Atlas Shrugged, Triumph...

1938 Production Of War of The Worlds

Every year we set up at the end of the 150-foot driveway to await trick or treaters with the show being broadcast on this repro vintage radio since the sound is better than my originals. The original WOTW is on the DVD of the 1953 movie as an extra, and I just connect it from the portable...

    The Brink's Job

From 1978 with incredible attention to period detail and the production design is top-notch. At last, it's being shown again and I'm watching right now. Encore Suspense and Movieplex Channels will broadcast it a few more times until November 18. If you haven't seen it, treat yourself.

http://www.feit.com/vintage_bulb/vintage.html Found these today at Lowe's for $8.98 each and noticed some of the remodeled Outback Steakhouses are using them in their new light fixtures. I've seen some like them online at web businesses that specialize in vintage light fixtures for $13 and up.

    Rosie the Riveter

Good for you! This is my favorite of all wartime posters, and there are a lot of great ones. I bought a repro of this for $5 at Big Lots a few years ago. I even have a postcard-size version of it on the inside of my 1943 footlocker lid to display at living history programs and reenactments...

The Kings Speech - a Critique

There is one that comes to mind from 1988 which I haven't seen since its original TV broadcast is The Woman He Loved with Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour. I don't remember if brother George's stammering was depicted or glossed over and ignored. The local TV critic at that time with an...

The Kings Speech - a Critique

Andy Rooney mentions in his book My War a meeting between fellow correspondent Homer Bigart and King George. Bigart stammered, too, and suddenly everyone was afraid the king would think he was being made fun of. Turns out the two stuttered through a conversation with each other like nothing...
