Thanks Joe!
+1, @MikeinRome and I apologize for being defensive. I’m all for furthering the collective knowledge on here and will welcome any evidence supporting date ranges.
Riiiiight… thanks? So when you say ‘the only way’ in one post, but then are unsure and can’t find evidence of said claim, then that’s probably a good indication (along with editing posts after being challenged on validity) of what is frustrating for the collective Stetson lovers here. Just saying
Thanks Daniel, it’s probably my last stab at a 3/8 (I’m a 1/2 LO, comfortably) hat but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
Mike, I’m aware or the change in 1952. My comment was meant to say that all those clues together pointed to 1940s.
Regarding your last sentence with the lines only on...
Thanks Story, you are right though that the 3x beaver logo carried on for several more decades. The roundel with squiggly lines and stars on the crest, along with the wide panel size/block sticker make it a 40’s hat.
What was a big surprise for me was to learn that the BRE and KF carried on...
Here’s a link to the catalog, first page dead center lists the Arminto at $17.50, they were a dollar cheaper in the mid to late 30s.

It was the price, size tag, and roundel that confirmed 40s me. The nail in the coffin was the $17.50 dead match for an Arminto in the 1944-45 Stockman catalog that Vic posted
Me either, I was hoping it was 30s but it’s definitely early to mid 40s. I’ll post it today in the 3x thread. Here’s the catalog that confirmed the date (along with the size tag and lack of LOT #)

I was in for a little over a G on that one, can’t imagine the provenance pushed it that high but maybe? Seems these massive novelty 10 gallons are getting more attention in general, which sucks for us loungers… It is a beaut though!
1940s Headlight blanket lined chore jacket. Heavily repaired (and faded!) and paired with a Fincks workshirt and modern Carhartt double knee. Will post more detailed pics of the jacket in threads of the past thread
That’s a hard neon NOT to love! Had to snag the shirt when wifey and I visited neon graveyard out in Vegas. Pic is from 7 painted towers I think they’re called?
Mr. Russell had some epic hats, but this one seems to turn up the most and typically unbashed. Don’t know if it’s because of his style, but I wear almost all my hats OC as well. Still need a pencil curl though!
Nutria was very common, across several different quality designations, dress/western weights, and decades. It started to ween off by the late 50s/early 60s when just ‘Nutria Quality’ (most likely a blended felt) existed in their Western offerings.
