So the jacket is sized to be able to accommodate an insulating layer underneath. I think an armored shirt would be too bulky to wear reasonably— I don’t wear armor generally unless I’m doing off-road type terrain, and then it’s time for my full on dorky klim suit.
In regards to the wind flap...
I tend to agree with you. I added the shirt tail to add a bit more functionality while hunched over a moto, while still keeping the front of the jacket short enough. If this weren’t my primary riding jacket I think I’d have forgone the tail altogether.
Some updated photos above showing the change in this jacket from about one year of wear. The leather has changed dramatically and I think will continue to do so as it keeps picking up sun, rain, etc.
