This surprises me. From the reviews I’ve read I thought id Be told to go for the Schott, it’s about $100 more. I have a Bean jacket with the one piece back and know it’s a solid jacket. It has thinsulate lining the one I’m looking at doesn‘t. That’s why I’m interested in it. The one I’m looking...
I’ve been looking to buy another jacket. There is one of each of these for sale in my area. The LL Bean is their older A2 style American made with the one piece back and the Schott is their take on the G2 Raider. I own an LL bean jacket from this era so know they’re a pretty decent jacket. I...
I purchased a leather jacket from the late 70s early 80s from an online auction site. The size on the jacket should be a perfect fit if not a little large. I can fit into it but it looks like I’ve been poured into it. I know newer leather jackets will stretch as you wear them but how about older...
Found a Schott 674 I might purchase instead. Are they about the same quality as the bean jacket. I know they’re not exact copies of WWII flight jackets but that’s okay with me.
I’ve been looking for a size 46 or 48 bean one piece back made in USA flight jacket. All of them I’ve found so far have been tagged long or tall. Can someone tell me how much longer they would be compared to the regular length so I can compare it to some of my other jackets. Thank you in advance.
Gypsy moth, I have a older Belstaff that I’ve thought about selling. It’s labeled a size 44 and won’t fit me anymore. I really believe it’s a little smaller than a 44. If you think you could be interested I’ll take some pictures of it and measure it for you.
I generally only wear my motorcycle jackets when riding my motorcycle. The bugs have a tendency of grossing people out. The only one I do wear out and about is my 1960s Barbour International and that’s because with a lack of armor I don’t ride in it.
I have a Saddlery/Cooper A2 I purchased in the late 80s early 90s. Thee LL Bean in my opinion is a better jacket. The goat on the Cooper is softer but doesn’t seem as rugged. The Cooper G1 in the pictures is about the same age as the Cooper A2 I’ve got. The G1 is a much nicer jacket.
The...
Top three pictures are of a Ll bean A2 I picked up last week. Last two are of a blue label Cooper G1 I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I think I did okay have less than a full tank of gas in each jacket. Nothing like looking at pictures of yourself to realize you need to lose weight.
Fanch, I’ve decided to pass on it. Almost pulled the trigger but changed my mind. Seems like a great price for the jacket, but not if it doesn’t fit and have to deal with reselling it.
I’ve got this G1 coming to me on Monday and have a saddlery A2. I like the looks of my A2 but don’t care much for the way the arms are positioned. I know the Bean ones are better in this regard. The guy is asking $75 for the one he has. Which from what I can tell isn’t a bad price.
It sounds like size 44 or 46 is what I need. I found a 42 at a resale shop last weekend and it was a little to small. Especially in the length. I really like these older jackets, they look and feel great.
I might take a gamble and purchase it. For what he’s asking for it I should be able to...
I also have one of the Turkey made ones with the wool pile liner. It a large and also measures 24”. I’ve got a Cooper A2 that is sized 48R but measures 23” pit to pit. They both fit, the bean seems a little large at the top though. Not that noticeable until I sit down in the car though.
