1930's Belts: How Wide?

I found a nice casual brown leather belt with a brass roller from Tanner Goods, and I'm deciding between the 1.5" and the 1" versions. For a 30's wardrobe, which width is more period-correct? Here's the belt:

I would have thought that the belt should fit in the belt loops of the particular trousers one is wearing. A 1" belt in a 1.5" loop might look too small, whereas a 1.5" belt in a 1" beltloop is impossible

In summary, depends on the trousers

You are indeed correct. My Dickies 1922 reproduction pants have wide loops accommodating a 1.5" belt. Thank you.

Yup, 1.5 for work belts, 1 inch for 30's slacks; 1/2 inch for '40s or '50s slacks.
