I've sold this hat here before, but it turned out to not be true to size so i took it back. The size on the tag is PUNTI 6 1/2 which is supposed to correspond to 7 1/2 US. But no, it's smaller than that. The circumference when i measure it comes in at 22 15/16" … right around size 7 3/8 or a large 7 1/4. Interior front to back measures approx 7 7/8" and side to side is approx 6 5/8".
It has strange dimensions, though i've seen quite a few European market hats from the era with similar dimensions. The brim is 2 5/16". The crown is rather low. I tried many different ways of creasing him, and the best looking one was the way you see it in the photographs. In this crease, a sort of porkpie-telescope, the crown measures 3 6/8".
The felt is in good condition with no noted stains or damage. Lovely and soft, and the brim is edged with thin grosgrain ribbon. It could probably use a bit of steam. It is a nice dark-ish grey colour. The interior is in equally nice condition. The crown has a plastic-y top cover, as can be seen, but it is woven, not like the plastic sheeting in the top of 50s Stetsons (for example). I think it is Qualita Extra Superiore, but let me check that tonight. It was sold by Fritz Mayr in Innsbruck. I'll check when i get home tonight whether there are any tags under the sweatband, as i forgot to do this last night.
I'll ask £50 for the hat, with shipping extra. As always the Brosson box is not included.
PM with questions. I prefer not to use paypal and can accept personal cheques in US$, € and £. Or bank transfers are easy too.
These low crowned hats can, of course, look great on tall men:
