True West magazine honored Nate Funmaker with the award back then, and he continues to make custom hats today as Nathaniel's of Georgetown. The hat for sale is from way back in his New Mexico / Colorado Bounty Hunter days, when he was apprenticing for Steve King before Nate bought the business outright. Handwritten tag reads 9/95 NF 6 1/2 crown height 4 1/4 brim width. 23" which is a size 7 3/8. Hat style is Kingfisher...there won't be another around I'm pretty certain. Beautiful, true tobacco brown color is deeper and richer that the photos depict. I recently sent in to Nathaniel's to be cleaned and stretched. 50% beaver fur. Stupid me continues to peddle on a fedora sight , but at least I just just lowered the price again. $185 if the shipping costs are reasonable from Phoenix. I've sold on this site before, the condition and quality of this hat is on par with the others.
