37 x 31 1930s cotton striped trousers

Yes, that's right. Quite a while ago I bought 2 1930s summer sets. Each had a belt back Lorraine Haspel linen jacket and a pair of striped cotton trousers. (Haspel introduced their linen line in 1934, if Apparel Arts is to be believed, and i suspect they are! The two jackets dated from a few years later than that, and I can only assume this is the date for the trousers too.) Neither of the jackets fit me so they moved on to selected buyers. One pair of trousers fits me, so i keep 'em. And then there's these, which don't fit me.

Made by Blue Ribbon, they are white cotton with purple and light brown stripes. Flat front and with a button fly and watch pocket. They measure 37 inches at the waist and i've let out all the length in the legs (but haven't hemmed them up) and the inseam is 31.25". A good wash and press should take care of the folds where the cuffs once were. The is some dark discolouration in the folds, but i think it should clean out nicely. There are two dark spots - one on the front, one on the rear. See pics when uploaded. I'm going to upload pictures tomorrow. See measurements.

Waist: 18.5" + 3.5" or a little more
Outseam: 43.25"
Inseam: 31.25"
Rise: 13.5"
Cuff: 10.5" across

Price: £30 plus shipping.

Here are the images. The little stains are the reason these are priced so low. Snap 'em up. They don't come around in any size very often, and especially not in this large size. The stains are certainly not of the kind that would dissuade me from wearing them …

You can see at the cuffs where i've let them down and the fold creases remain. There is also a line of stitch holes. I think these issues would be dealt with after a good wash and press, but can't guarantee, obviously.

Flat front (no pleats). Nice double-button waist treatment with lovely MOP buttons.

Button fly.

There are two rear pockets, with the left one buttoned, as is standard with US trousers of the era. This image gives the best impression of the colours.

This spot of dark colour is towards the bottom of the front aspect of the right (I think) leg.

And this is on the rear thigh area of the right (i think) leg.
