Thanks again everyone. After reading through some other posts on th FL I think this style will be called the Stratoliner. Plus that opens up a bunch of new names... Stratocruiser, Stratoflyer, Stratojacket, etc...

If there is a vote mine is stratoflyer. Just rolls very nice. This is a really nice jacket. Great design. Does it have the same lining? Since you are playing with the collar... how would an A-1 type collar look?

You really have a thing for getting the collars right. (not just the collars )

I have noticed that you usually make the jackets with some "puff" in the
lower back. Is there any reason to this? Looks better?
If you look at the jacket you based it on and the one you made.
Is yours just longer? But why Or is it just the waist that is more
flexible on yours (still looks longer tho)

I've made a similar version with a knit collar and G-1 type pockets (look up the Spanish Civil War thread- "Lincoln Brigade Jacket) it's a good look, very 1930's. I'm saving "stratoflyer" for the future...

This is a 44, the first one in the thread is a 42, so there is a bit of difference in the 'look". The puffing out on the back is from the waist knit gathering the material. The basic pattern for this jacket torso is square, but this one is tapered a bit (special request). Right now it's new and stiff, but this goat REALLY softens up as it breaks in and the jacket will drape more naturally. here's a couple interior pics:

Is the STRATOLINER with Leather Collar by NORSHOR LEATHER also an authentic example of what was available to the public in the early 50s?

Yup, the Stratoliner with or without mouton collar is typical of many civvie mid 20th century flight jackets.

I actually only just realised that this thread was originally for Mark's Stratoliner. I love the seal brown one on page 1 with the mouton collar. It's been on my must have list since I first saw it.

Remember there were hundreds of different styles and variations with those old civilian flight jackets.

So you can see both with or without epaulettes on these versions of these "bomber" jackets.
