A little confused

Hi all

Friday I added my third hat to my collection (I'm still expecting that a friend of min give me back my camera to shoot some nice pictures of my hats, because I'm anxious to know your opinions about my beauties :) ): a dark grey velour finish country style from Melegari.
Reading some posts here I notice that you reccomend to go out in a rainy days to "settle" the hat, now my question/doubt.
The hat I bought is a little large for me (my 57.5 head is a nightmare lol during shopping) so the seller gave to me two small foam pads: but I feel not so confortable with that because there are small gaps between hat and head.
Now: if I'll try to spray with tap water and let it dry at room temperature or if I'll go out in rain and, again, let it dry must I expect a small shrinkage (let's say about 1/2 cm)? if so is there the possibility that hat band will bee loose? (it's a small leather band)
Finally is there any difference in shrinking behavior between leather and grosgrain sweat band? (mine has the second one).
Many thanks in advance

Jaco, I suspect you may remain confused...I mean it it like comparing two different cotton T-shirts after a wash...one may shrink long-ways and at the collar, another may stay perfectly the same...I don`t think there is a general rule here...or am I wrong!? Chances are it will shrink, but the effects are difficult to imagine until after the wash. In any case, slowly, slowly is the way to go...letamente, letamente
