I was thinking you had a camptown also. I would like to put a diamond in my federation since my camptown will have the indy bash. That will make all three in center dent. If I did change my federation do I have to steam it or just pop it out and put the new one in?

Dont know how I missed this post Indycop, I would try it without steam first and see what I got. After the initial bash you may then have to steam it.

Yep, looks great!! Thanks for posting the pic. I am still working on a diamond bash on one of my San Antonio's, but I have never got it to suit me.[huh]

It is available in Taupe Fawn and Silver Belly. Please note additional price of $4.99 for Silver Belly.

The colours Mid Brown, Black, Bluegrass and Carbon Grey are available by special order.

Thanks to this and the other Campdraft thread, I just ordered one in Silver Belly for $92.57 (US, including shipping) from aussiebushhats.com.au

I'm not sure if that included the $4.99 upcharge on the Silver Belly or if they forgot.

One thing to note: my 2 Akubras from AussieBushhats (one of them a Cattleman) came with no liner. The one I bought from David Morgan (also a Cattleman) did.

Jeff, re your DM Cattleman having a liner, that's odd - I thought that the vented Akbura models generally didn't have them. My Cattleman doesn't, but my Stockman (which has no vents) does.

I got both my Cattleman and my Stockman from Aussie Bush Hats, and I have no complaints with their service. The one thing that I found strange was that they both came with the advertized "free leather chin strap"... but neither hat included the grommets for connecting a chin strap! This was fine with me, since I didn't really plan to use them anyway, but it's weird. (I gave the nicely plaited brown/black chin straps to my daughter, who uses them as belts.)

That makes a lot of sense -- so maybe my DM Cattleman is just an oddity? That or DM orders them that way?

Funny you mention that -- the reason I ordered a second Cattleman from David Morgan was exactly that: the Aussie Bush Hats Cattleman didn't have the gromits and connecting points, whereas the one from David Morgan does.

Worked out fine though - I have one with a chin strap, one without :).

I'm in the market for a couple of new hats and you guys have me ready to order a Campdraft.

Question; which color is more practical (meaning, I could wear it more often) Silver Belly or Taupe Fawn? From the pictures, it appears that the Taupe Fawn is light brown and the Silver Belly is a creme color?

I guess my concern is that although the Silver Belly looks awesome, I'm wondering what outfit it would go with and if it would be limiting.

Also, who may have them in stock in 7 1/4 size?

I'm in a dilemma. I'm wanting a new Akubra hat, but do I want a Campdraft, or do I want a Bushman?.......:eusa_doh:

By the way, is there another source for a Bushman other than David Morgan? I would kinda like to have one without the little metal chin strap hooks.

To me, they're both great colors. For reference, though, I think the Silver Belly (Sand in Akubra's naming system) goes with nearly anything. Here's mine:

I just ordered a Taupe Fawn Campdraft from hatsdirect.com. They just happened to have my size in stock. Yippie!

Jim

I just ordered a Taupe Fawn CampDraft from hatsdirect also. I got the impression they are selling them...just not on the web site yet. My size in stock also. My Silverbelly took three months. I really love these hats and actually loving the thin ribbons now too.

Can one put on a thin ribbon on any type fedora? or is it just these Open Road types that look better?

Gorgeous! Very silver-gray looking there.

I didn't know that! I have an Akubra Territory in sand. Just ordered a Campdraft in Silver Belly - but didn't know they were the same color. Kind of odd that they'd use two different words for the same color. I'll have to compare when the Campdraft comes in (3 months from now!) :).
