I do like wearing shorts and barefeet for sure at least we get to enjoy all the seasons to the max. We take what we are given. :smow: Cold weather is also a great excuse to wear some leather.
They actually just received the first real snow for the year a couple days ago. Nice to have for the holiday season.
Winter usually sets in mid November till March in Northern Minnesota. We live 200 miles south of here, Minneapolis area and no snow there at all yet. We usually have a about a month less of actual winter weather there also.

Ah you are quite lucky to own that thing!
It's one of my favorite jackets that I've come across. I love the zippered pockets.
So, at the risk of sounding like a naive plonker, what's the difference between Horween Warhawk FQHH and ChromeExcel FQHH ?

I have the samples of the previous HH and CXL steer from horween, nice stuff. I'd like to know your thoughts on the new HH.

It seems to have replaced the FQHH chrome tanned one they had listed. Whether it's any different and just has a fancy name I don't know. CXL is combination chrome and vegetable tanned while this is just chrome tanned. I did have a swatch of the previous chrome tanned FQHH and found it very glossy and plastic in feel.
They may have changed the finishing to make it more like CXL since though.
I have samples of the CT Horse and the Vintage CT horse ... the latter is STUNNING. SO STUNNING that I traded in my Vintage Steer Drifter against a new design jacket ( think JC's Ventura crossed with the Old Aero Californian with a little bit of Sears thrown in for good measure ) in Vintage Brown CT Horse.
I believe the Warhawk ( the title is Horweens) is unique ( currently) to Alexanders ... and is both Veg and Chrome Tanned.

Well each to his own. The swatch I got about four months ago was not at all to my taste while the CXL steer was.
Is it combination tanned? It's described as chrome on the site. Like the other one which is straight chrome according to the Horween tannage list.
Maybe this is a bit of diplomacy by Horween ? As we know in Selkirk the Peoples Front of Judea hate the Judean Peoples Front !

I have AL samples also and the CT steer is superlative, the CT horse not so much. Wouldn't rate the horse anywhere near my old oil pull Aero. The steer was unique and beautiful in all three colors. Some of the other leathers look very intreresting too, the various goatskins and the crazy steer especially.

Indeed Steve .... it's a fine jacket ..... but I now have a one in one out rule 
( actually it's SWMBO's rule ... I just have to comply )
The colour looks about right .... it has two inner pockets and no studs on the outer flap pockets .... Strome lining and bottom 3" in Moleskin. It has had a coating of Renapur which is oil/wax based rather than distilate based like Pecards.
The New jacket is my design swoosed ( cobbled together from many of the features I like in vintage jackets)
It will be very similar in cut to JC's Ventura with a little less slope in the front and a slightly fuller cut ( I'm not 1930's shaped nor do I care for a tight fit unless it's in my shoes and my boxer shorts). No front zipped pocket and double lipped handwarmer pockets. 1/2 belt bi-swing back like the AL Drifter and the Aero Halfbelt Deluxe .... but a little neater in the shoulder and hip. Buckle strap closeure on the cuff and waist like the Aero Californian ( but without the D rings) and no storm cuffs with a medium width sleeve ( I don't have 1920's halfbelt diameter arms) ... std Talon bell zipper as the vintage hookless repro's look pretty but are a PITA and about as reliable as a politician !

Well, I look forward to seeing the new one...I'm going to have to research some of your design elements. Your "old" Drifter is very tempting at £250-- I did wonder about the colour since it looks darker than the other "vintage steer " ALs I've seen --but the Renapur explains that.....however I only recently had an adapted Drifter (buttons, not zip : no biswing) made..... so kind of hard to justify purchasing your one to my SWMBO. Even so.... the fit would seem good....I'll maybe try another chat after a bottle of Pouilly Fume.....
Must disagree with your choice of tightness in shoes and boxers though...
What makes you think that ? I can't find any mention of it being veg re-tanned as per

"Wet blue hides are sorted for initial quality so that the proper “selections” are made – for grain character, weight/thickness, scratches, scars, brands, etc. Next comes retanning, and it’s where the secrets begin. Specific and proprietary mixes of bark extracts and natural agents are used to give Chromexcel, and many of our leathers, its heavy vegetable retannage. The benefit of combination tanning comes from the specific attributes that both chrome and vegetable tanning impart. Generally, chrome tanned leathers yield soft, supple, and durable leathers, while vegetable tanned leathers are round and full feeling, patina well, and are easy to coax into shapes using heat and moisture."
