Pilot Terry Rush, 63, of Cherry Hill, was airlifted to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, in Pennsylvania, with what are believed to be second- and third-degree burns, according to state police.
He suffered burns to his left side and both hands. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

After landing the plane around 4:30 p.m., Rush reportedly exited the craft, walked onto one of the wings and jumped to safety while the plane was still rolling and on fire.

Rush was the only person onboard the aircraft.

He's very lucky. Crashes in planes this old are seldom survivable.

Quite a shame. I'm glad Terry's injuries aren't life threatening, and I wish him a speedy recovery. Here's a photo of the TBM in happier days (1989), when I photographed it with an FM-2 Wildcat "somewhere over the Pacific".

Actually, it was over Lancaster County, PA but the layer of haze made it look like we were over water.
Reading one of the news reports, I'm stupefied over one statement. In the Press of Atlantic City, they report; "The pilot was the only person aboard the single-seat plane." I have two issues with this statement. First, let's hope there was only one person on a single seater. The second thing is that it is not a single seater, it can carry a crew of three.
