Bagpuss creator Oliver Postgate has died aged 83, his family has confirmed.

Mr Postgate, who lived in Kent, created some of the best-loved children's TV series including Ivor the Engine, the Clangers and Noggin the Nog.

i was only watching a documentary on BBC3 with him on a couple of weeks ago!!
i love the "saggy old baggy old cat" called bagpus and the clangers...take me back to my childhood!
sad loss for Mr Postages family, at least he left a lovely legacy! xx :(

:( All staples of my early childhood in the mid 70s.... I adored, still adore, Bagpuss. In fact, one of the rintones I have on my phone is the mice's song... We will fix it, fix it, fix it....

That is sad news, i grew up with all those too, but Bagpuss was my favourite, i loved the nostalgic intro especially. but wasn't Noggin the Nog Danish or Norwegian or similar? That was my earliest tv memory and it's really just a blur now.

I always enjoyed Ivor the Engine, I suspect becuase it was about steam trains.
