Ok, as a Bond Fan I wish to tell you all the tale of Casino Royale, and its orginal production(not with Woody Allen).

So, back in 1954, Ian Fleming (the author of James Bond) sold the rights to CBS for about a $1000 and they made a 3 part TV play of it staring Barry Nelson, amoung others. It changed the story a bit, yet it was similar (that is using it kindly) to the story. I highly recomend getting a copy for any Bond fan or a lover of obqure movies. This redo on tape is becoming rare since there is only one orginal of the film left and it was made into this tape.

Also, according to the USA Today, the new movie will not exacly follow the book, but will explain several orgins of Bond, which sounds cool.

Actually, the Climax! presentation is a pretty good version of Casino Royale except that James Bond is Jimmy Bond and he's an American. Peter Lorre is, of course, great as LeChiffre. As a Bond fan I wish they would just make films that follow the book. What was great about "Dr. No" is that it's a "quiet" Bond film and really captures the era of British colonialism. A quiet version of "The Spy Who Loved Me" should also be done.

I think Bond should have never been brought out of the sixties. They should have just kept making them as period pieces. I stopped going to see them after the first Dalton outing and I caught "World is not Enough" on TV and I can't believe how terrible the series has become. The direction and cinematography rivals a music video. Can't they ever get it right?

Regards,

Senator Jack

I am with you, they should use the books, they are amazing (yet, sexist to the "t"). Casino Royale is very short and most of the current movie viewers would hate it. I think they should also do Moonraker as a the book tells it and all the others.

I was pleasantly surprised when they announced Daniel Craig as the next Bond. As much as I like Brosnan, Craig was my second choice. Saw him in Layer Cake, a really good brit gangster flick. He was great. I'm sure he can pull it off.
