That russet horsehide is bizarre. I wonder if they are stamping a pattern on the HH like they did on the G-1 steer hides? It just looks odd.

I am no expert, but I assume it is an easy way to muddy a bad quality of a hide. So you can sell a second-rate quality, too.

Usually you won't change the appearance of a high quality hide - horse hide has a distinct appearance (especially after the breaking in process), which is - apart from its quality - the main reason for the unconditional love it gets.

That's not true. You don't need to 'add grain' to a bad quality hide.
The bad quality hide is only bad because the skin has holes and marks. For the holes there is nothing you can do about, but the marks you can easily make disappear by dyeing the hide.
You can also grind it and make its surface smooth and clean. Some in the fashion industry consider grain a bad quality of the leather and for this reason tanneries literally iron the leathers to make them smooth. (Which is one of the principal reasons why we can't find grainy). Leather industry is a fashion driven industry. If the call is for grain they make them grainy. The leather in question was not made for garments but for other purpose. Hence the coarse grain. Leathers for garments are smooth, soft and thin. I can't reveal all the secrets of the industry...

As for every important expense, I am always thinking if I did the correct choice, same applies for my RW 27752...

so I am still wearing the BK RW in the evening (when the temperature allows to do it for 5 minutes! ) and still thinking again about space on the waist, but not baggy... (as arm length is ok for me and very happy with leather and manufacturing).

So I tried my perfecto jacket I used for motorbiking (sometimes the 184sml, sometimes the perfecto) which is really trim fit, and I have almost no movement freedom, which was ok on the motorbike...
then I wear the RW again, and I really appreciate the space on the waist and don't want to have this trim fit on my A-2. (and period pics show that I wear my RW same style as the pilot wore their A-2)

I definitely love my RW, and I think I did the correct choice.

(and I don't think I will go for the purple jacket next time, sorry ButteMT61 lol )

But, in lieu of the purple Pimp-Wear (hmm, competition for Good Wear???), I'd say the RW 27752 is awesome. That was my first choice about a year ago. Only changed it 8 times since. Good luck. But don't forget the purple. It grows on you.

For what its worth, it looks like a good jacket, wear it well. In time you may find you'll love it more as it 'moulds' to your body shape and develops that personal character we all love in those old originals. Who knows, once the bug bites, you may end up with a few A-2s in your closet ;-)
