It used to be Detroit....
Now there's a good show. I first got a taste of it last christmas when I caught the Blackadder Christmas Carol and I've been hooked ever since. Only thing I don't like about it (as I discovered last night) is that after a while, it tends to bring out my inner cad...

On the move again...
"He is what he looks like. A dungball in a dress."

My Pop & I loved watching Blackadder together. I practically grew up watching that stuff. I loved his one liners and insults of Baldrick. Classic stuff!!:)

Cheers!

"Now I have the chance to get my hands on some real power! -Edmund Blackadder.

The sound of hoofbeats 'cross the glade,
Good folk, lock up your son and daughter,
Beware the deadly flashing blade,
Unless you want to end up shorter.

Black Adder, Black Adder, he rides a pitch black steed.
Black Adder, Black Adder, he's very bad indeed.
Black: his gloves of finest mole,
Black: his codpiece made of metal,
His horse is blacker than a hole,

His pot is blacker than his kettle.
Black Adder, Black Adder, with many a cunning plan.
Black Adder, Black Adder, you horrid little man.

So now, the wage of sin is paid:
The blade is still, the black steed grazes.
The only sound across the glade
Is Edmund pushing up the daisies.
Black Adder, Black Adder, a shame about the plan:
Black Adder, Black Adder: Farewell, you horrid little man.

My girlfriend loves House. I think Hugh Laurie is great in it, and the accent is impressive (he demonstrated the accent in Stuart Little, also) but I just can't watch the show. Chacun a son Laurie.

I have all 5 DVDs, he's such a cowardly louse.
But Bob Hope made a very good living playing cowards in his movies.
Good stuff, I love British comedy. Chef, Red Dwarf, Dr. Who, To The Manor Born. I haven't watched Prime time network TV in Years.

He did, but did he ever played a louse? Not to my recollection.

Blackadder, however, is fantastic. I want to see the first series again. The medieval blackadder is a bumbling idiot as i recall, not the suave, sophisticated ladies man of the later series'.

Yes, that's it. Baldrick is the smart one to begin with, then for whatever reason later on they made Blackadder smarter and Baldrick stupid. I suppose maybe the idea was a further joke for the second series - a roel reversal - then they decided to keep it going for the rest?

By the by, anyone looking to buy these on DVD, I have been told by friends who have seen both (I own neither thus far - bad form, Marlowe!) that the one to go for is the Region 1 release, which has considerably more in the way of extras on it.

Edmund: Secondly, Percy will join me in here for the gourmet turnip eating.
Is the Turnip Surprise ready?

[Baldrick and Percy begin giggling.]

Baldrick: Yes, it is, My Lord.

Edmund: Then what is so funny?

Percy: Well, My Lord, while Baldrick and I were preparing the Turnip
Surprise, >we< had a surprise -- we came across a turnip that was
exactly the same shape...as a thingy!

[Percy and Baldrick laugh.]

Edmund: [not amused] ...a thingy...

Baldrick: ...a great big thingy! It was terrific.

Edmund: Size is no guarantee of quality, Baldrick. Most horses are very
well endowed, but that does not necessarily make them sensitive
lovers. I trust you have removed this hilarious item...?

Baldrick: Oh, yes, yes, My Lord.

Edmund: Good, because there's nothing more likely to stop an inheritance
than a thingy-shaped turnip.

Percy: Absolutely, Edmund. ...but it was jolly funny! [laughs more]

Edmund: Yes, yes, yes...

Baldrick: I found it particularly ironic, My Lord, because I've got
a thingy that's shaped like a turnip!
