I'd read on TFL about these being a good choice for brushing felt hats. Well I just received one and I'm surprised how stiff bristles are! Similar to a scrub brush .. Is it safe to use on a felt hat?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  2. Was it designed for hats? I have a couple horse hair brushes and they are very soft.

Clean horsehair shoe brush. Cheap, safe, easy to find.

  4. Boar hair “brushes” are an adornment found on some Teutonic hats. They were not intended to brush the felt.

I sometimes use a bristle brush (intended for suede shoes) on my hats. Never noticed any negative effect on the felt.
