How about Benchcraft Hats? I don't know the model you refer to. But I went to the BC website and pulled this up in a jiffy. They probably have others with brims that wide. For example -

Welcome to the Lounge!
A quick look through the Bencraft Hatters website yields several results:
---The Bellini
---The Giorgio
---The Rosati (actually 3 1/8''; A Bencraft exclusive)
---The Verdi
---and my favorite, the lightweight Vitali
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. If you can get to Bencraft in Williamsburg (near Peter Lugar), it's worth a visit. If not, it's worth a call - they always have stock on hand that is not listed on the website. JJ Hats also has Borsalino, but not as many models (and they cost more).
I suppose I agree in principle - but a direct comparison of one hat model that is common to the two:
Borsalino Film: Bencraft $230, JJ Hats $350
Borsalino Como: same prices
Plus, Bencraft is a lounge advertiser and occasional forum contributor. I believe as the largest retailer of Borsalino in the US, they have many more models available, especially in the wide brim category as they are catering to the religious trade in Brooklyn.
