ALl I know is that it is referred to as a Stetson hat in the Biographies of The Byrds.

ooks like an overwelt brim edge. Not a pencil curl. Up brim fedora with a deep porkpie crease? Kind of reminds me of the transitional homburg/fedoras popular in the teens and twenties, but porkpied. Then again it could be a '60s wool felt. Very hard to say without more pics, or interior pictures, which I'm sure probably just don't exist.

Reminds me more of a style reminiscent of pre-fedora days. Like the sort of hat that was worn between 1850 and the 1900s. You'll see many civil war soldiers in hats that look sort of like that first one above.
