Earflap caps

:drum: Henry the Hatter currently has 3 styles of caps with earflaps.
The most popular style we call the Roma Plus, an Italian imported wool 8 panel cap, with the plus being the concealed earflaps.
We also have a Cashmere & Wool Blend in the Ivy Shape, and both an Ivy & smaller 8 panel cap made in Sweeden by Wigens. all wth earflaps & all available up to size **L.
While at work today I will try to get photos and post them for you.

As we head into the cooler weather and my thoughts turn to the idea of a cap with earflaps that will have less of a 'Colin Robinson' look when worn with a suit than my repop B2, I'm pulling this old thread back up. The links above are no longer working, alas.

This item from The Well Dressed Head https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/499...57:LTc1291132ff5bd46d40165cb1aeba7461c0a64c16 would be very much within my aesthetic wheelhouse, but is alas rather more than I can afford to spend on a cap.

Otherwise, this Winter version of the Dasmarca Logan looks like a nice pattern, but hard to tell if it's got that 20s/30s oomph to it, or if it's one of the more modern cuts with very little body to it:

I've been known to sport a Ushanka at times, but those don't always work with every outfit...

Caps with flaps work. They have a place on my cap rack.

Below is a vintage JC Penny Cashmere cap with a furry ear flap that folkds down. The cap fits well, but fits loose when the flaps are down. A compromise that works on a cold day.

I sport a Filson Mackinaw wool cap (28oz) when I need something really warm. It is insulated and fits when the flaps are pulled down. It does give an Elmer Fudd appearance.

The wool Stormy Kromer has flaps that slide down. In my experience the flaps do not slide down to cover the entire ear. Makes the ear warm, but the ear lobes stay cool.

Stormy Kromer comes in different hues.

I do treat the wool caps like wool garments. I dry them out after use and store them stuffed and in open plastic bags.

On the other hand I never underestimate a heavy wool cap, scarf and collar pulled up. A toasty combination.

Cheers to what you find works for you, Eric -
