Choosing a flange

Hey Folks : Forgive a distinctly "Indy" question but as I venture into the world of cleaning and reblocking my own lids, I'm wondering which flange style would be the best for an Indy style hat? I know our tastes venture a little further than Indygear but I'm in the process of ordering a size 7 "Fedora" block and am keen to bid on the right flange to suit the puppy. How do you choose? Are all 40's style flanges similar in depth and ark?

My clouded thinking says...if you get an ideal LC block, which is a #60 or a #25, What then would be the corresponding flange style? A 60???

I'm also wondering, why it is that if you have a size 7 block, you need a
7 1/8th flange? At least this is what I've been told.

Any help would be really appreciated

Warm Regards
