I scored a couple of wool fedoras today. The Indy is shaping up after a good soaking.

Can you reshape a wool crushable? Steaming has no effect.

Hm, that's interesting. I've never had a problem steaming and reshaping a crushable wool. I've got two -- both from Jaxon -- which I did this to. One, I simply deepened the pinch and added more rake to the crown, but the other, I (again) deepened the pinch, and completely reshaped the crown from a center-crease to a teardrop. No problems at all. Actually, they've taken to reshaping better than the fur felts I own.

Mind you, this is with plenty of steam. Lots and lots and lots of steam. By definition, crushables are meant to retain their original block no matter what you do with them. I remember trying to get a sharper pinch out of the first hat I mentioned -- much to my frustration -- before discovering the wonders of boiling water and persistence. :)

Thanks Admiral. I forgot about this post.

I finally got the front brim down on my Lite Felt. I did this by wetting it under the faucet. I had to rub it in because the water wanted to run off. Then I wrapped it in a towel, put a brick on the front brim and let it dangle over the edge of the table for about 3 hours. Worked great, and looks 100% better now.
