Oh no... it seems like we're seeing too many of these all of the sudden.
I remember as a little girl, my mom would watch Brigadoon endlessly, and she always fascinated me to no end. She remained such a classy lady right to the end. She'll be missed.

RIP Cyd Charisse

Cyd Charisse, the long-legged Texas beauty who danced with the Ballet Russe as a teenager and starred in MGM musicals with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly, died Tuesday. She was 86.

Charisse was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday after suffering an apparent heart attack, said her publicist, Gene Schwam.

She appeared in dramatic films, but her fame came from the Technicolor musicals of the 1940s and 1950s.

She was truly stunning. Wow.
RIP for sure.

:eek:fftopic:
Her hair in the Band Wagon spot is how I have been trying to tell people to cut my hair for about the last 15 years and noone has yet figured out how to cut it like that. Liz Taylor had the same one back then also.

Condolences go out to her husband Tony Martin. He must be heartbroken.
The two were married for 60 years. Yup, they were married since 1948.

MGM once boasted about having "more stars than in heaven".
Sadly most of it's stars are now in heaven. :(

As Fred Astaire so aptly stated about his favorite partner Cyd Charisse,
"When you've danced with her, you stay danced with."

Saw a goodly number of her movies back in the 50's, Brigadoon was my favorite. Gorgeous woman, dynamic dancer.

I once read that, of all the lovely ladies who danced in the movies, she was considered the best.
